Does anyone remember 'Angel Mae'?

I think it was a story by Shirley Hughes, but I can't find it anywhere. I loved it when I was little because it was about a little girl waiting for her little brother/sister to be born and my mum bought it for me when she was expecting my younger sister. Does anyone else remember it/ know where I can find a copy?

Angel Mae is a lovely book :)

You can get it from various sellers on Amazon

My dcs loved this. And I welled up when Dad turned up to the school play. Sniff.

Thank you so much ladies. I swear I looked on Amazon last week and couldn't find it and thought I was going mad! Grin

I love the bit where dad turns up too. I can't wait to read it to my 3 year old!

I have it on the shelves there . I collect vintage children's books, particularly Christmas ones and I have nearly everything Shirley Hughes has ever written. DD loves Angel Mae. My favourite is Lucy and Tom's Christmas however.

I was going to say, I keep an eye out for vintage Shirely Hughes books and there are always copies of Angel Mae available, but obviously you've found them already...

Best bit of Angel Mae btw is when she falls off her chair, gets back on and carries on and everybody claps

I love Shirley Hughes.

Lucy and Toms Christmas is very lovely. I like it when Tom gets overexcited and a bit cross and goes for a walk with Grandpa :)

I have a copy upstairs - bought it for £1 a couple of years ago in a bargain bookshop, lovely book

I never had it as a child, but have discovered it with my own dc.
Not vintage but shirley Hughes' "The Christmas Eve Ghost" makes me well up at the end every time.

Miranda, that's my favourite bit too. Poor, overwhelmed Tom taking five minutes with grandpa. And the lovely, deaf neighbour smiling? Perfect. I also like the fact that he has the same toy from his stocking in all the pictures, he clearly loves it. If you like Lucy and Tom's Christmas, have you seen Christmas In Exeter Street by Diana Hendry? It's similar in atmosphere and a good addition if you don't know it already.

The Christmas Eve Ghost is brilliant too weary. Have you seen that Shirley's got a new Christmas book out? It's an Alfie one iirc.

Thank you everyone. I bought Angel Mae and Alfie's Christmas and we had such a lovely time snuggling up to read them yesterday. Now I'll be looking out for the other stories suggested Smile
