Nick Sharrat - Moo Cow, Kung Fu Cow
Tim Hopgood - Wow! Said the Owl

Are both getting the thumbs up from ds1. Anything by these authors seems good.

I agree Each Peach Pear Plum and Baby Catalogue are great and real classics. A few other suggestions to widen vocab are the Julia Donaldson books such as The Gruffalo, The Snail & The Whale, A Squash & A Squeeze, The Smartest Giant in Town. Great pics and great wording - my nearly 2 year old is now saying the words before I read them out (from memory only!) as she loves them so much, and requests one each night before bed. We got 10 of these paperbacks for £10 a while back by searching online.

Thanks everyone. It never occurred to me to check the library. I'll make a list of the books you've recommended and see if the library has them.

DS loves 'this is the bear' series.
Also like little rabbit foo foo, baby brains, handa's surprise, the selfish crocodile. I have hundreds of books, my mum is slightly obsessed!

For some reason my DS always falls about with hysterical laughter at the 'bang crash mice' bit in 'Rabbit's Nap' and now asks for the 'Bang Crash Bash Mices' smile

I have a DS the same age - he loves Each Peach Pear Plum by the Ahlbergs. And also their book The Baby Catalogue. Also second the post about the Acorn Wood series - lovely 'lift the flap' pages and DS can join in with some of the words. Also loves The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle - lovely bright colours!
Although, having said all that, he's gone off books recently...

Library.

But my 2 year old ADORES (to the point o obsession!) the Acorn Wood series by Julia Donaldson - they're fab! (Foxes Socks / Hide and Seen Pig / Rabbit's Nap / Postman Bear).

He also loves books about diggers and Thomas the Tank Engine.

I recommend the library! It's free, you can get loads and try them out then buy their (and your) favourites!

Also mr magnolia.

Hey everyone.

Can you recommend any books for a 2 year old?

I'm wanting to widen her vocabulary and encourage her. I've been looking on amazon etc, but I don't want to buy just any books. Just a few to start off with and there's so many to choose from.
