Book for boys approx 9-12 years, can anyone tell me what it is?

My nephew has said for his birthday he wants a book he saw at show and tell in school. He doesn't know what is called or the author - helpful! However he said it's a book for boys and tells you how to make stuff, how to build a tent etc

Does anyone have any idea what this might be or a suitable alternative?
