Legal thrillers for 12 year olds

She has few AG novels, which she has also enjoyed.

No strictly legal but the 2 Harlan Coben books for teens are really good , Shelter is one of them, I can't remember the other. You need to read them in order though.

More Grisham. Freddy Forstyth, too. Murder mysteries, maybe? I read a lot of Dick Francis at that age. Christie, too. I don't care for them much, but maybe your DD would enjoy the Daisy Dalrymple books. DD has enjoyed the Cat Royale series (more historical adventure mystery books).

Second Dick Francis, agatha Christie, also Kathy Reichs has written books for teenagers, not sure what they are like though.

can you suggest some book titles as well please. As far as I can remember there is no sexual content in The day of the Jackal and Dogs of war. I have not read any Dick Francis.
John Grisham novel was ok as far as I can remember.

12yo DS brought home a Grisham from school & I was surprised, but having read it, was very tame, nothing unsuitable. I'm much more bothered when his teachers encourage him to read Darren Shan.

Christie, Francis: anything, it's all suitable enough. Here's a Francis list. The Hercule Poirot series are all worthwhile, oh.. .and Sherlock Holmes?! Have a blitz reserving them thru public library, only costs ?50p for each volume locally, so no big loss if not so good.

Problem is we remember many books as relatively tame & then dig them out & feel a bit shocked at the bits we forgot. Mirage is one of my fave thrillers, but I can't remember if it's got anything age-unsuitable in it.

Thanks, we tend to borrow a lot from the library as well.
To my dismay, she did not like Sherlock Holmes but that was about a year ago, may be worth while to gently suggest her to try it again.
It is such a tricky age to fodder them good books especially most of her friends are into vampire stuff.

the Montmorency books by Eleanor Updale are worth looking at and should be in the library
Dead Time by Anne Cassidy - newish so maybe not in the library

Josephine Tey did some mystery/thriller books with legal aspects eg. Franchise Affair and Brat Farrar.

Is Dick Francis completely child friendly? I haven't read any for years so can't remember.
I have a nearly 11 year old, who would freak at anything which had bad language or anything hinting at sex.

I think each Dick Francis book has a regulation sex scene that adds nothing to the plot. I imagine Dick was uncomfotable writing it and possibly wore gloves while doing so.

There are young Sherlock Holmes versions by Andy Lane so she gets the thriller part without the old fashioned language.
