We're equally delighted to announce December's Chapter book of the month as the magical Fire Spell by award winning author Laura Amy Schlitz.
Set in London in 1860, Fire Spell tells the story of Clara whose involvement with a puppeteer leads her into a harrowing world of magic and misdemeanor. Described by the New York Times as 'a wonderfully twisty, creepy melodrama with three heroes to love, two villains to hate, and then at the end - but I won't tell, except to say it's totally satisfying'. If you're interested in reading more, visit our December Chapter Book of the month page, where you can access the first chapter.
We're offering 50 mumsnetters the chance to bag a free copy. Apply before Wednesday 5 December at 10am. If you're one of the lucky 50, remember to come back to this thread and let us know whether you and your Dcs have enjoyed Fire Spell.
The form appears to be still open. Does that mean there are some copies left? I've just filled it in optimistically. I reckon this sounds like the sort of book DD would love. She loved the Rosie books and the combination of magic and a Victorian setting.
