My 10 yr old reads ebooks on her Kindle and as a bag of paper books from the library by the side of her bed. I have the kindle app on my iPad and iPod touch and there is an option on the app to turn down the brightness of the backlight so it is like reading paper books.
Our 2yr old loves books on the ipad - Leo and the Windy Day is played/read over and over. But at bed time she likes an 'old fashioned' book so she can turn the pages herself. I don't mind the format she reads in, just as long as she keeps up her interest in books.
Not every book is available yet as an ebook. The costs of ebooks is still too high and includes VAT, which printed books do not. I think it is a matter of balance. Enjoy books in all formats and borrow loads from the library too!
My friend has bought their 6 yrold a ipad and they use it for games and books. The books can be interactive and you can get some books which read to you which is great. Also, if you don't have kindle you can get kindle apps for ipad and other tablets so can download all the books you want. I was just wondering if their is anything wrong with just reading from tablets, as it is surely just progress to a paperless society? Or can they be bad for eyes if use too much?
