Audiobooks for a long journey

we'll be off on hols soon and I wondered whether anyone could recommend some more books for the car stereo, as I'm getting a little tired of the existing ones. My kids ( 7 and 5) love The BFG and Fungus the Bogeyman, which are listened to endlessly. Does anyone have any more suggestions?

Not specific recommendations, but our library has a really good selection of children's audiobooks on CD (and on tape also), really pretty much any of the well known authors you can think of. As well as the ones in our library you can order for free anything they have in the county.

Ones I can think of that dd (now 9) has enjoyed over the past couple of years are:

Charlie Bone by Jenny Nimmo (can't remember exact title, but it was the first one in the series)
Danny the Champion of the World
Absolute Zero by Helen Cresswell
Lionboy by Zizou Corder

sure there are others, she's had loads as we live a long way from our families so do loooong train journeys!

I love How to train your Dragon read brilliantly by David tennant

Also Secret Seven, Roald Dahl, Charlie and Lola.

Dr Who audio books are good for us...we got the freebies off Ebay for a couple of quid each Well worth it.

The Further adventures of gobbolino the witches cat and the little wooden horse went down well with my 5 year old last week, despite not having read the first gobbolino book or the little wooden horse. My husband complained when I took it back to the library that he hadn't heard the end of the story and could I go and get it back.

Have a look at Storynory.com - lots of short ones - but they are free, and Alice in Wonderland has been done chapter by chapter.

Storynory is good - also ford galaxy of stories - modern versions of fairy tales which amuse adults too.

We got a Roald Dahl set from the book people a few years ago which went down well.

Just William stories are also good.

My 6 year old also really likes 'just a minute' - you might be able to download a couple before you go.

Another vote for Just William. Read by Martin Jarvis, got us through a 3 hour drive brilliantly - in fact I was sad to get home!

Enjoying How to Speak Dragonese read by the lovely David Tennant. Kids quite like it too. In the same vein, Sean Bean reads an Arthur thing here which has got me through many a long journey...
