Mumsnet

Note: Please bear in mind that this is a discussion board, not a place to advertise childcare vacancies or recruit childminders/nannies etc. We don't mind the odd mumsnet regular mentioning that they're looking for a job/mindee (although you're probably better off in MN Local) but repeated job "ads" and posts from nanny/babysitting agencies aren't fair to people who are paying for small business ads. Do feel free to report any you see. Thanks, MNHQ.

oh well done that is terrificgrin
I know how hard you must have worked to get that status (am hoping to head that way myself)

Katymac Fri 20-Nov-09 10:17:13

Wow - round here that means you get extra EYE funding from April next year

Numberfour Fri 20-Nov-09 10:32:06

Katym, can you tell me more about that?

Thanks, everyone. it was hard going, but clearly it is doable! So good that childminders can be recognised in this way too!

It's to do with the 'single funding formula' not sure I understand it really

Well done. I'm hoping I'll get there one day.

Woohoo! I would love to do it but it's not possible as a nanny

Was it really tough?

Numberfour Sat 21-Nov-09 09:26:55

thanks, everyone! i am still grinning!

frakkinaround, yes, it was quite tough because at first it is so vague as to what you have to do. after a while it all falls into place. a lot of emphasis is placed on the written tasks but there are lots of other pieces of evidence you need to gather too. it also took quite a bit of time out of my working week and I had to find childcare for my own little one, and had to try to help the families I childmind for, find alternate care for the days I could not help them.

why can you not do it as a nanny? there are various pathways you can take and the course provider will assess you and propose which pathway is suitable.

I think it's all the stuff on EYFS and working in an early years setting. There was a nanny who wanted to do it and was looking into it but Kingston said she wasn't eligible.

Same around here. My best friend was a nanny but was allowed to start EYPS on the proviso that she found another job in an eligible setting. She is now managing a day nursery. She had to stop for a while because she couldn't make up her mind whether to leave the family or carry on, but she is back at it now.

Numberfour Sat 21-Nov-09 16:03:04

oh, of course! one of the biggest elements of the EYPS is of course the delivery of EYFS. blush thank heavens they cannot take away my status that has just been awarded!!!

i also did mine at Kingston.
