Note: Please bear in mind that this is a discussion board, not a place to advertise childcare vacancies or recruit childminders/nannies etc. We don't mind the odd mumsnet regular mentioning that they're looking for a job/mindee (although you're probably better off in MN Local) but repeated job "ads" and posts from nanny/babysitting agencies aren't fair to people who are paying for small business ads. Boys find it harder at nursery?

All the local nurseries i visited when looking for a place for my baby son, seemed to have a significantly lower ratio of boys to girls. Is this because boys struggle more to adjust to nursery routines. Has anyone else experienced this?

I would doubt that was the case - surely if a parent has to work, they have to work? You don't put a baby in nursery if you don't absolutely need paid childcare; they cost a fortune!

Not a theory I've heard before. Nurseries take the children that are brought to them IME. FWIW there was no difference in settling between my DD and my DS when they were in full time nursery.

Sorry, no difference other than those based on them being different people rather than different genders (DD was the better sleeper).
