Note: Please bear in mind that this is a discussion board, not a place to advertise childcare vacancies or recruit childminders/nannies etc. We don't mind the odd mumsnet regular mentioning that they're looking for a job/mindee (although you're probably better off in MN Local) but repeated job "ads" and posts from nanny/babysitting agencies aren't fair to people who are paying for small business ads. Do feel free to report any you see. Thanks, MNHQ.

I'm going to LA for five weeks in May/June, as part of my PhD studies, and obviously want to bring my 18 month old with me (couldn't imagine not seeing him even for a day!), and was wondering if anyone has any advice or information about childcare in LA?

Don't know where to start looking!

Many thanks grin)

Have you considered taking someone with you? I imagine LA would be a popular choice for holiday nannies and they would be happy with costs + minimal pay. Also means you can get them checked out here before you go (i.e. check refs, police check, first aid etc.)

I agree try to find someone here you pay flight and pocket money they are responsible for any child care .
I used to often do a similar things myself before I had my ds. Always worked well I got to see wherever they got the time they needed

I would be interested! I have 4.5yrs exp with children, including sole charge of an 18mth old, and have down with my current charge at 5, 8 and 9mths. I have qualifications, crb, first aids, etc. Rates are negotiable. If you're interested, email me on nanny dot beth at hotmail dot com
