Mumsnet

Note: Please bear in mind that this is a discussion board, not a place to advertise childcare vacancies or recruit childminders/nannies etc. We don't mind the odd mumsnet regular mentioning that they're looking for a job/mindee (although you're probably better off in MN Local) but repeated job "ads" and posts from nanny/babysitting agencies aren't fair to people who are paying for small business ads. Do feel free to report any you see. Thanks, MNHQ.

Assistants, what, how. help please! Maybe katymac?

Hi, I've not been around for a while, things have been fairly quiet childminding wise, very unusual for here, and I have never had vacancies until recently.

I have a variation for 4 as 3 sets of siblings over the week, 3 lots of maternity leave at the same time!!. The three older ones all leave for school in July, so I need to look at filling places, fast!

I have 2 people who both want the same day and it has to be that day due to timetabling. My close colleague ( outstanding childminder and my back up) has that day free and says she will help me as I would have 6 under 5. It would be great if she could do the nursery run in the morning and at lunchtime, so I could have lunch ready on her return and it stops the babies going to sleep in the car, so I can then get them all down for a sleep at 1.15.

I will obviously pay her, etc, I have the employer liability etc from NCMA etc. I have downloaded the info from Ofsted, but there doesn't appear to be any forms.

Help needed please, any info, supporting info that may be useful etc, as I need to get this in place for FEb 1st - parents are leaving it late to find places as 2 new day nurseries offering 250 places 2 mins form the station, undercutting c/m's fees, but parent realise that c/ms are best for babies!

Thank you

Wouldn't she be a co-minder rather than assistant?

I spoke to Alibubbles and suggested that; we found a nice easy solution which everyone should like

Update, a brilliant response from Ofsted, following a lovely chat with a very helpful Ofsted officer
