hey there, I am not planning on getting pregnant just yet but thinking for the future, I had my first baby by csection, when I do have my next baby (I defnitley want more lol) what are the pros/cons of both section and vbac. plus ive heard you are recommended to have no more than 4 babies by csection, does this still apply if you have one first section and the rest natural or is it both, just curious smile

I had DD2 on Saturday and had a successful vbac despite a short gap between pregnancies (DD1 is 15 months) and an induction. I think the chances of a successful vbac are increased if you avoid these factors. I found this website and general googling of vbac helpful in considering my decision.

I wanted a vbac because, although I had a very good recovery from my emcs, I felt that it would be better for me to avoid recovery from major abdominal surgery with a young toddler and newborn to look after. I had a 3rd degree tear in this labour and still feel significantly better than I did after my emcs.

In terms of what is 'safest' I'm not entirely sure. Obviously a c section is major surgery and there are risks inherent with that but there is a risk of scar rupture with vbac. I think my gut instinct is that vbac is probably safer for mum but perhaps elcs is safer for baby but I have absolutely no medical knowledge to back that up!
