For fun and wondering reasons really.. How many weeks were you when you went into labour. Were you expecting to come early? Induced? Differ from the other labours you had?

plummyjam Thu 04-Apr-13 18:51:09

41 weeks but had a sweep 2 days before. EMCS in the end for failure to progress. DD did not want to come out!

chickensaladagain Thu 04-Apr-13 18:53:14

jessebuni Thu 04-Apr-13 21:37:39

40+13. After 4 sweeps and god knows how many remedies I gave up and let the midwife book the induction and went into labour then next day, the day before my induction.

39 weeks. Labour was 14 hours from waters breaking to baby appearing.

So glad he was a week early....his due date was my birthday!! I'm not sharing that with anyone :D

olympicvibes Fri 05-Apr-13 00:50:11

Today ( although over by an hour-it was the 4th) was my due date...bye bye due date!

1) 42+2, 10.5 hours of sheer hell, shoulder dystocia 2x diamorphine
2) 39, 2.5 hours, born on toilet in hospital, gas and air
3) 39+6, 2 hours, 5cm to born (on toilet again) in two minutes, no pain relief as only just arrived at hospital
4) 38+2, 2.5 hours, wonderful experience, mostly at home with midwife friend, went to hospital to push him out, no pain relief.

Meant to add, number 2 born in sac.

Coffee1Sugar Fri 05-Apr-13 01:02:52

40+9 I was induced, dd arrived 28 hours after start of induction

issypiggle Fri 05-Apr-13 01:03:30

39, was induced due to high blood pressure. sad , least i didn't have to panic as to whether or not there was 29 days in feb that year.

FuckThisShit Fri 05-Apr-13 01:05:29

40 + 5

Induced at 38 weeks because of numerous problems. They started with the crap pessary things and I got put on the drip about 3 days later. He was born 14 hours after the drip went up and about an hour after I finally got to 5cm! I was still throwing up even as I was trying to push!

24 weeks so far with number 2 and haven't had any sickness yet, hopefully it stays that way!

MirandaWest Fri 05-Apr-13 01:12:38

DS born at 38+3 naturally although they would have induced if he hadn't come along when he did.

DD born at 40+4 again naturally

shufflehopstep Fri 05-Apr-13 01:29:05

Plumsieinaonesie Fri 05-Apr-13 05:32:52

Dd1 40+7 water birth 4hrs 45mins from waters breaking. By far the most normal and great experience for a first baby, I guess that's why we went onto have more.

Dd2 37 at home on toilet floor very quick midwife did arrive in time, just.

Ds1 38 induced (by waters breaking) due to growth decrease and heart rate dips. About 4hrs

Dd3 37 went into labour early with breech baby ended up with a crash Emcs under GA. 1hr 45 from waters breaking. After it all being planned out for birth at 39wks via any means, with a CS being the last result. Best laid plans and all!!!!

Experience all types, the last one hit me for six never experience pain like it, give me natural childbirth any day!!!!!

Wishfulmakeupping Fri 05-Apr-13 06:04:06

39+ 6

NandH Fri 05-Apr-13 06:10:51

Congratulations damnitdamnit! Lovely!

louisianablue2000 Fri 05-Apr-13 08:40:33

DD1 induced at 41w
DD2 natural labour at 40+2
DS induced after waters broke at 36+4. Bit of a shock after the other two arrived after their EDD, I was running round the house dripping waters while I tried to put together a hospital bag in the middle of the night (I'd just finished work the day before Ds was born) Handy hint: the maternity ward do actually have everything you might need for an early baby, we even got to borrow a lovely hand knitted hat until DH went home and got the baby clothes out of the loft.

40 + 4.

DS1 - 40+6 - 10hrs - hospital
DS2 - 40+6 - 5hrs - hospital
DD1 - 41+1 - 3hrs - dad delivered at home!
DS3 - 40+2 - 5hrs home birth
DD2 - 40+2 - 7hrs - hospital

DS4 due in 13days.

Not induced with any if them.

tomatoplantproject Fri 05-Apr-13 08:57:15

40+4. Was contracting for 12 hours and got to 5cm until dr realised baby was breech at which point was rushed to theatre for cs.

dublindee Fri 05-Apr-13 09:24:07

Ds1: 40+10 - not induced - 36 hour labour start to finish. gas and air, pethidine and eventually angry epidural. Son at weird angle in birth canal caused mahooosive pain. In the end he was an assisted ventouse delivery. Home after 3 days. Weighed 9lbs 1oz.

DS2: 40weeks. Born on due date after being warned I wouldn't be kept waiting this time! 8 hour labour start to finish with just gas and air and pethidine. Literally 2 pushes and he was there. Went home next day smile
Weighed 8lb 5oz.

DS3: 38+6. Very obligingly agreed it best that he not arrive on the day the others broke up for Easter hols and arrived the week before like I begged him to! 11 hour labour start to finish helped along by gas and air and double shot of diamorphine (pethidine is no more apparently!) 11 hour labour start to finish and although not as easy a delivery as DS2 certainly nothing like DS1! Went home next day. Weighed 9lbs 6ozs.

All 3 were born in the same delivery suite in the same hospital. We now jokingly name it "our" suite!!

All finished now. 3 is definitely the magic number for us smile

Notmyidea Fri 05-Apr-13 20:17:34

38 weeks with dd1, 42 weeks with dd2. Currently 38 weeks and hoping it's not much longer!

MyNameIsAnAnagram Fri 05-Apr-13 20:22:15

40 + 14, not induced.

Zara1984 Fri 05-Apr-13 20:23:44

Induced at 40+1 for high blood pressure. DS born early hours the following day!

Always wondered when I would have naturally gone. Had lost my mucus plug a few days before my induction after a sweep.

AlisonL1981 Fri 05-Apr-13 20:55:58

32 weeks, I went into labour at 5.15pm after no pain or twinges, had baby at 5.50pm!! I was on my own in the house and he arrived just minutes before the paramedics! He's my first baby!

photographerlady Fri 05-Apr-13 21:25:32

Wow some amazing "late" deliveries thanks for those that shared

Doratheinfuriatingexplorer Fri 05-Apr-13 21:30:44

38.3 induced. Born 38.4 late evening.
38.1 induced. Born early afternoon, speedy! grin

TheFallenMadonna Fri 05-Apr-13 21:31:41

With DS, 40 + 11. Waters broke at 40 + 9, but nothing much happened, induction and 21 hours later forceps delivery.

DD, 40 + 11. MW v relaxed about going past due date, but she was on holiday and saw GP instead at 40 + 10 who wouldn't countenance going any longer and booked me in for induction next day. Contractions started as I walked home from the surgery grin

MiconiumHappens Fri 05-Apr-13 21:34:06

40 & 39.6

AmandaCooper Fri 05-Apr-13 21:36:00

Congratulations damnit!

OP I was 40 + 6.

StormyBrid Fri 05-Apr-13 21:45:26

Was hoping for slightly early, suspected it'd be horribly late. DD was wonderfully punctual and turned up spontaneously on her due date.

IwishIwasmoreorganised Fri 05-Apr-13 21:47:52

42 +5 with ds1. Induced. Ds1 arrived 8 hours after pessary

Ds2 arrived on his EDD - 4 hours after first niggle.

Nonsensical Fri 05-Apr-13 21:51:15

1. 42
2. 42+5 (longest so far on this thread! It was a long 3 weeks)
3. 41+5

Managed to avoid being induced with any of them - my weeks of being overdue almost add up to an extra trimester surely?!

Nonsensical Fri 05-Apr-13 21:51:37

Oh no cross post!

JollyPurpleGiant Fri 05-Apr-13 21:53:57

Last 15 mins of 40+6 when DS was born. Had gone into labour in early hours of 40+5 so labour was over 40 hours.

photographerlady Sat 06-Apr-13 11:38:19

40 hours grin

flounderscominghome Sat 06-Apr-13 12:07:14

37+3 with DS. it lasted 3 hours and gave birth in the bath in a very strange hospital with no pain relief. I was not expecting to go into labour then at all and my mw was sure I was going to be over due.

BeaWheesht Sat 06-Apr-13 12:18:43

41+6 both times induced

MiaowTheCat Sat 06-Apr-13 12:36:58

DD1 - late 33 weeks, went in with period cramps that were coming at regular intervals and was found to be leaking waters - she arrived the next day.
DD2 - just squeaked into 36 weeks - was in and out the previous week and a half with threatened labour and increasingly painful stop-start contractions... went in when the paracetamol and codeine I'd been advised to take wasn't even touching the pain, was told I wasn't dilated at all, my cervix was still long and there was no way the baby was coming... while they were sorting out a prescription for some better pain relief - waters went bang and she arrived well within 15 minutes - midwife and doctor were getting the mickey taken out of them by their colleagues for a few days over that one (midwife's even admitted I caught her out even after all her years of experience)!

Apparently I don't do late pregnancy or actually going into labour waiting to dilate for hours - I just get the pain but bog-all pain relief since I don't dilate - and then bang!

MrsJohnDeere Sat 06-Apr-13 12:41:54

38 induced quick
40+4 very quick

jaysmum2012 Sat 06-Apr-13 14:14:09

beckslovestimmy Sat 06-Apr-13 15:57:46

38+1 wasn't expecting it as it was my first, also wasn't expecting a 4 hr labour with only a 4 minute pushing stage! Bibs was inpatient to meet us! smile

photographerlady Sat 06-Apr-13 16:18:23

becks I need to have a labour like yours smile

MummyPig24 Sat 06-Apr-13 20:58:56

Ds- 36+6, total shock.
Dd- 40+6, was hoping early, not fun being over!

beckslovestimmy Sat 06-Apr-13 21:51:09

It was great photo it still bloody hurt but at least it was over with quickly. I can't have cost the NHS much either as I didn't have any time for pain reliefshock

Dogsmom Sat 06-Apr-13 23:51:20

39+5 no symptoms until the day it started then a 30 hour back to back labour.

I've still got the stitches to show for it but also a beautiful daughter sleeping soundly in her cot next to me smile

IdaClair Sat 06-Apr-13 23:57:30

first 40+17 not induced, home birth with no pain relief, second 39+6 not induced, home birth with a paracetamol.

GoodtoBetter Sun 07-Apr-13 07:10:47

sleepythegiraffe Sun 07-Apr-13 07:18:29

Ds 39+5 born next day
Dd 39+6 induced and born next day

Tigresswoods Sun 07-Apr-13 07:27:57

39w & 5 days. Went into labour 30mins after my first cup of raspberry leaf tea. Oops.

DD - born at 39weeks & 6 days. DH had been working away (only 2 hours away) but came home for the night before his last day of work. My waters broke in the middle of the night. Quick labour for a first. Had first contraction half an hour later and DD was born in 6 hours.

DS - born at 38 weeks. I'd had a show 8 days previously and loads of braxton hicks. DH had been working away for 2 weeks and I'd been really worried about him missing the birth. DH got home, my waters broke 2 hours later and DS born in 2 hours! shock

TheSecondComing Sun 07-Apr-13 07:37:17

Message withdrawn at poster's request.

Induced for GD at 39w, had him the day after. He was already on his way though and my dates (pre-scan) put me at 39+6 when he was born. Quite a long labour - contractions started at 2:30am, induced at 3:00pm, contracting until waters went at 4am and then had him at 4:00pm.

40 exactly, completely natural.

ohforfoxsake Sun 07-Apr-13 07:58:43

40, 40, 41 + 3 (one sweep), 42 (5 sweeps, crying, climbing the walls, depressed) wink

Although saying that, the final birth was the biggest baby, born in the bag and an absolute doddle.

ChasingStaplers Sun 07-Apr-13 08:10:01

DC1 - 37 weeks
DC2 - 38 weeks
DC3 - 39 weeks

All spontaneous labour although DC1 took 48 hours and DC3 only took two!

Trishstar Sun 07-Apr-13 08:42:08

Hulababy Sun 07-Apr-13 08:47:03

mummytopoppy1 Sun 07-Apr-13 09:48:33

StrawberriesTasteLikeLipsDo Sun 07-Apr-13 09:52:29

38+4 with DS1 induction then EMCS
36+6 with Ds2 Elcs

StrawberriesTasteLikeLipsDo Sun 07-Apr-13 09:53:26

Oh and the ELCS was worse than the EMCS, and I really mean worse, dont even like thinking of it

Chunderella Sun 07-Apr-13 10:02:14

40+1 when I felt the first twinges and waters broke. 40+3 when DD finally made her entrance. I'd had an appointment with the midwife on my due date, and she said it would be about 3 days or so- she was right. So I was expecting DD to come when she did, but not that I'd go into labour when I did. I had it in my head that labour would be about 18 hours.

SilveryMoon Sun 07-Apr-13 10:05:17

41.6 weeks.
39.1 weeks.

RightUpMyRue Sun 07-Apr-13 10:10:49

Am currently 40+4 and am still not in labour sad

Suzietwo Mon 08-Apr-13 13:06:30

40+14 induced ending in emcs x2

CuppaSarah Mon 08-Apr-13 14:00:31

39+5. I was convinced I would have to be induced, I spent ages researching induction. But my best friend who had been saying for over a month the baby would be born that day was right.

caramelgirl Mon 08-Apr-13 17:25:55

DC1 37, 4
Currently 39, 4. Have had mega Braxton hicks and period cramping for a month. Beenjoying swigging raspberry leaf tea and drinking tincture, having acupuncture, rubbing clary sage but nothing.
Suspect is that I was gym addict last pg which anecdotally makes for earlier, smaller babies, but too tired to do much more than swim and walk this time. Hurry up baby!!

C0smos Mon 08-Apr-13 17:36:05

34+5 complete shock now pregnant with DC2 and really hoping I last longer this time.
