Anyone else waiting for labour?!

Hello
I'm 39+4 with first baby and am poised waiting for labour to kick in any time this week or next week. Just wondered if anyone else was foot taping waiting for their bundle of joy to fill the crib?!! confused
Also any thoughts on whether swimming still ok?! Am trying to keep busy but would hate for waters to break in a public pool shock

Moochicken Thu 31-Jan-13 08:48:51

Yes, I'm 39+1 with my second. At this point in my last pregnancy my waters had just broken, so I'm on tenterhooks!

I constantly think I'm about to pop but in reality I've had no signs that labour is imminent so I should probably prepare for a bit more of a wait!

Swimming will be fine as long as your waters are intact. I'm going to try lots of walking to try to get things moving.

whatsinthebagangelos Thu 31-Jan-13 08:59:24

Me! Am due tomorrow and so far nothing...

Jenny123G Thu 31-Jan-13 09:34:06

Hey good luck and hope it comes soon.
I'm 37+4 and been in either very slow first stages of labour (or one long false labour) since 1am on Sunday!!!!!!
Trying to keep busy but can't keep my mind off it.
Anyway when your time comes hope it's not as long as this!
Best of luck smile

BabyClam Thu 31-Jan-13 11:27:02

Yes!!!!
I am 40+4 and so tired of waiting!
I think I spend the whole day fielding emails and calls from family and friends while trying to battle through imaginary last minute preparation (washing baby things I may have forgotten to wash).

CountryCupcakes Thu 31-Jan-13 14:40:36

Yes me too! I'm 40+6 with DD3. Have been getting strong & regulart braxton hicks for about 3 weeks now but the past two days they have vanished. Have had 2 sweeps and even resorted to sex last night. Nothing at all to show for it today though! Have actually slept all day so am not hopeful for the baby making an appearance tonight either. it's so frustrating!

40+3 with DC3 here. Had a sweep this afternoon, the midwife says I'm ready to go, but I'm not going to get too excited. I was told the same with DS and he arrived at 40+14.

I'm hoping this one will be more like DD, I only went 4 days over with her.

BabyClam Thu 31-Jan-13 15:26:17

Does anyone think sweeps make a difference?
The midwife tried to do one on Monday but couldn't reach (something to do with the position of the cervix with the baby being posterior facing).
I don't know whether to push for another.

CountryCupcakes Thu 31-Jan-13 15:38:28

I went into labour with DD1&2 after sweeps both times so I'm gutted that it hasn't worked this time. I think they will only work if you are actually ready to give birth. Ie this time round my cervix has been soft both times but still quite far back. From that the midwife said that it was unlikely to work. I'm booked for another on Monday, before I get induced on Tuesday, and she seemed to think that would start things off successfully. I hate waiting!!

stowsettler Thu 31-Jan-13 18:41:35

I'm 38+1 with #1 and soooo impatient. She's baked now, so why won't she come out?! I've started on the raspberry leaf, oil of evening primrose, gym ball bouncing, brisk walking and I'm thinking of spending tonight running up and down the stairs! I may even let DP do sex, even though I feel like a beached whale and about as horny as a quaker prayer meeting angry

BabyClam I had 3 sweeps with DS and none of them worked. Though I think the one I had today might be doing something, I've had backache all afternoon, and generally feel like everything is about to fall out.

It's always worth a try, especially if you're trying every other induction method under the sun anyway.

I've been trying pressing on the acupressure points on my hands. Not sure I believe it'll work, but I just want to meet the baby now. Though once I've actually got a newborn and two under 4s I'll probably wonder why I was so desperate for him/her to arrive!

jouli Fri 01-Feb-13 12:30:42

I'm 38+5 with DS2 & I've been at the rasp tea, walking & birthing ball.I have also had accupuncture 2 times( due for last session next week),so I will let y'all know if it helps...The baby did move when the acc needles were inserted & it definitely started my BH,which I didnot have with DS1.
Oh & I did have a sweep with DS1 & it did work,albeit v slowly(had sweep at 40+10,at 3pm & was 8cm dilated at 10pm the following evening).

emsyj Fri 01-Feb-13 12:36:33

I'm 39+5 today so OP we must have the same due date (Sunday)??? grin

DD was born at 37+1 so this is a massive shock to the system still being pregnant. Not at all what I expected! No sign at all. sad May go to Mothercare in a short while to have a mooch about the baby stuff...

If your waters break in the pool you probably won't even notice - mine last time were just like, well, water - odourless, colourless...

hugahuddy Fri 01-Feb-13 19:41:53

Yes emsy, due on Sunday!!
Any news from anyone?!!
I didn't want to be doing all those crazy things to bring labour on but might change my mind next week!!!

emsyj Fri 01-Feb-13 21:29:00

Nothing happening here - I've told DH that we will be having lots of sex next week, however awkward it might be with my giant belly. I think I have persuaded him. grin

So much for me thinking that nothing would work- DS2 was born 24 hours after my sweep.

emsyj Sat 02-Feb-13 11:30:44

thanks Congratulations Anathema! smile

LazyMachine Sat 02-Feb-13 11:34:42

Congrats Anathema ! (we're all completely jealous)

39 exactly, here, and becoming fed up of my insane symptom spotting! I'm knicker-checking as though I were in the first trimester.

katolla Sat 02-Feb-13 11:40:56

40+5. Ignoring texts asking for updates. Fat and grumpy. Sex pineapple and walking has done nothing.

PickledInAPearTree Sat 02-Feb-13 11:48:06

Meeeeee! I feel really blah today.

PickledInAPearTree Sat 02-Feb-13 11:52:26

Is it true you get vouchers if your waters break in mothercare?

katolla Sat 02-Feb-13 12:12:02

Pickled are you going to go and camp there just in case? I think if you didn't mind publicising it any shop would give you vouchers so that they looked good.. I would just run away I think. Tho maybe apologise for the mess ..

PickledInAPearTree Sat 02-Feb-13 12:21:00

Off down with a deck chair! grin

BabyClam Sat 02-Feb-13 12:50:31

Has anyone else gone yet?
I am definitely asking for a sweep on Monday now after Anathema's success.
No Braxton Hicks or anything here, I think I may be pregnant forever!

BabyClam Sat 02-Feb-13 12:51:22

I heard the same thing about vouchers in John Lewis so I was planning to hot foot it down there if there are any twinges...
With a nice long labour I think I could pretend my waters had broken in as many as 3 different shops!

katolla Sat 02-Feb-13 14:05:45

In wetherspoons ATM, hope they don't go here, not very classy and doubt they'd comp my nachos

PickledInAPearTree Sat 02-Feb-13 14:40:11

I literally feel like I could explode!

NAR4 Sat 02-Feb-13 17:48:06

I'm 38+2 and have been getting strong BH since about 36 wks, which often keep me awake at night. I was convinced it was a sign I would be in labour soon and enthusiastically started going through all the old wifes tales to get labour going, as soon as I hit 37 wks. Unfortunately nothing made any difference. I have tried everything now (except a sweep which midwife won't do until 40 wks), so resigned myself to just having to be patient and wait.

Congrats Anathena and not long now everyone else.

LazyMachine Sun 03-Feb-13 07:18:13

Argh. The Texts. You'd think my friend whose own DD was born @ 41+6 WOULD NOT BE THE ONE TEXTING ME SEVERAL TIMES A DAY ASKING IF I AM LABOUR YET BECAUSE SHE 'HAD A FEELING'. (Apologies for shouting.)

40+1 and restless

LazyMachine Sun 03-Feb-13 07:21:11

Stupid pregnant brain - that should've been 39+1 (& wishful thinking!)

My MW won't do a sweep until post-40, either NARS. If BHs are meant to be 'practice contractions' then this is one well-rehearsed birth!

freerangelady Sun 03-Feb-13 07:41:49

40+4 here, feeling huge and grumpy. Had a sweep at 40 wks but mw said the babies head was really low but I had a very posterior cervix. I'm still doing loads of walking and bouncing but think it might all be a bit pointless if babies head isn't bouncing on the cervix.

Keep telling myself that in France I wouldn't even be at my due date yet!

katolla Sun 03-Feb-13 10:48:46

40+6 aaaaa. What's a posterior cervix? I'm doing all fours today in case that helps. It's not very comfortable. I give it another 2 minutes. No sweep till 40+10.

NAR4 Sun 03-Feb-13 12:22:46

When do they set the due date as in France Freerange?

emsyj Sun 03-Feb-13 13:16:32

Due date today! Hmm, I am wondering if my waters are trickling. Last time they went in a big gush, but the last couple of days I've had a lot of watery discharge and then last night I got up and had a big trickly gushy thing that I had to mop up. It carried on whilst I was lying down but now I'm up it seems to have stopped. It's definitely not wee, it smells of nothing. Hmmm. Am not getting my hopes up just yet tho. Will call the midwife if it happens again.

freerangelady Sun 03-Feb-13 13:19:41

Nar - in France they give you your due date as 41 wks.

Apparently posterior cervix just means its pointing towards my back and the babies head is lower than it. After mucho googling I found its quite normal and the cervix moves. Hasn't stopped me worrying about it tho!

mmmmsleep Sun 03-Feb-13 13:30:50

Emsy...sounds like your waters. I think you should let midwife know. Reason is they might want to confirm as if carries on without delivering baby after certain time is risk of infection. You can go home again usually after checked to wait for labour there. Good luck baby soon!

emsyj Sun 03-Feb-13 13:34:39

I just don't have much faith in them mmmmsleep - last time they told me (wrongly) that my waters hadn't gone, so feels a bit pointless to get in touch with them - but I will call my own midwife a bit later on. Just having a cup of tea and a chocolate bar to try and encourage baby to move for a bit of reassurance, as movements have been less than usual this morning (although to be fair I have been napping pretty much the whole time...)

mmmmsleep Sun 03-Feb-13 13:39:13

Sorry just reread that...apologies for the lack of proper sentences!

mmmmsleep Sun 03-Feb-13 13:41:51

Sorry emsy. It's so difficult when you've had bad experience in past. Hope baby gets wriggling for you in next half hour. I think you're sensible to plan to get checked if not. Good luck.

How's everyone doing today? If it makes anyone feel better, I've had 5 hours sleep since Friday. I had afterpains keeping me up most of the night on Friday, then DS2 was feeding constantly from 9.30pm last night until 2.30am this morning. Then DD decided to start the day at 5.30am.

Make the most of these last few days, and I hope you're all joining me in a sleepless daze very soon.

PickledInAPearTree Sun 03-Feb-13 15:17:36

Oh! Those after pains are nasty arent they hope they dont last too long.

No movement here!

Moochicken Sun 03-Feb-13 15:59:48

I'm having contractions every 7 mins that last 40-60 secs. Just waiting for them to get a bit closer together before calling the hospital!

LadyMaryCrawley Sun 03-Feb-13 16:14:14

Hello ladies, can I join you please?
Am due tomorrow, was woken at 8am by my waters breaking in a massive gushy flood! Went in to get checked, sent home to wait, leaking and sporadic tightening but nothing major. Bored now!

moo it sounds like you will be meeting your baby soon!

hugahuddy Sun 03-Feb-13 16:35:40

Oh how exciting with waters breaking!!

I'm due today! Had some very mild period cramps but nothing now. Had terrible nights sleep feeling sickly, any chance this is a sign of my body gearing up?!! Been very lazy today, snoozing and bouncing on ball. Had appointment with the midwife on Tuesday and she will offer a sweep but I was planning to let nature take it's course for another week at least. Have pad in ready in case waters break.

Best of luck to all!!! Will keep looking for updates!

ImGoingToCountToThree Sun 03-Feb-13 17:30:26

Hello can I join, 40+2 today. Nothing so far but I'm ready to go now and feeling impatient.
Getting fed up of the texts and asking if any sign yet. Never gone into labour on my own as yet and this is 3DC.
Not sure what to look out for. Having lots of Braxton hicks, quite strong ones but have been having mild ones since week 16.....I'm taking this as a sign.
DH just gone for a Indian takeaway so we will see smile

katolla Sun 03-Feb-13 17:50:56

I've been having Braxton hicks that long as well! And theyre much stronger lately. Nothing else though. Might try to get sweep moved forward. :/

BluddyNora Sun 03-Feb-13 19:01:12

Can I join? I'm due 38+3 and fed up. Although house is a bombsite so would be better if he stayed put till maybe Saturday! Good luck everyone smile

PickledInAPearTree Sun 03-Feb-13 19:07:26

Sounds promising! I really want my waters to break this time, they didn't last time. Good luck all, sounds like we have some movement!

mmmmsleep Sun 03-Feb-13 19:48:13

I'm only 37 weeks but strong painful braxton hicks for last few weeks and hoping things get a move on. Went into labour in 38th wk last time so hoping i go early this time too...starting to get very swollen and under v close watch for preeclampsia again so would suit nicely if baby appears before that truly kicks off. Human pregnancy is just too long...although i truly feel for poor elephants!

Cupcakemummy85 Sun 03-Feb-13 20:15:13

I'm 39 weeks exactly and I feel like a tickin time bomb lol. Everyone keeps saying see u soon unless....... But I know I will go over my due date. I dot know why I'm wishing time away as my dd1 is 19 months and it's going to b such hard work I'm sure lol. I was induced last time So not quite sure what its like going into labour naturally.

ImGoingToCountToThree Sun 03-Feb-13 20:53:25

I have a sweep book for Thursday, really hoping I won't have to have it, it always makes me feel violated confused
My DH has offered to do it instead wink

Cupcakemummy85 Sun 03-Feb-13 21:08:25

Ha ha I have a sweep too on Friday. Last time with dd1 it was a male doc that did it with a super deep monotone voice, bit awkward. This time round it's my friendly midwife. Hope she is more gentle than the last one, it killed!!!!

LadyMaryCrawley Sun 03-Feb-13 21:11:33

Still nowt happening apart from the odd grumbling. Watched Call the Midwife to encourage baby out, hasn't worked grin.

Hope all these signs mean babies are on their way! Good luck girls!

PickledInAPearTree Sun 03-Feb-13 21:51:39

I watched call the midwife and it made me want to cross my legs, firmly.

mmmmsleep Sun 03-Feb-13 22:59:47

...three. Last time had 2 sweeps that did nothing...was sent home with instructions to get a "natural sweep" from dh if nothing happened. He suceeded in breaking my waters but day later no labour so then the drugs came out. He's banned this time despite his pleas!!

MJP1 Sun 03-Feb-13 23:10:05

Hello
I am 39 weeks and since Saturday evening I think something may be starting !!!

I have been having braxton hicks?/contractions, which have been coming and going, feeling naseaus, had tightening of the bump, weeing and pooing more often, not sure if I am trickleing my waters? its hard to tell as I need to wee all the time. Tonight whilst ironing I have had really bad tummy ache and am generally feeling yuk.

I think this is definately the start of something?? I hope so ??? I am trying to keep busy taking the dog for a long walk/waddle, cleaning etc, I am hungry and eating and the pains keep coming and going and I know things can go on for days.

My lovely friends are throwing me a baby shower on Tuesday so i'd like to enjoy that but also I am so ready to meet my baby, just want it to happen.

ImGoingToCountToThree Mon 04-Feb-13 11:55:50

Oooh cupcake, awkward indeed! Did it work though?
Sleep, sounds like your DH was thorough wink
Very romantic my DH, he said " I'll irritate your cervix if you like" grin
Ermm thanks darling sounds lovely.
Had frequent Braxton hicks in the night that woke me up, but nothing this morning. Although I am so tired I've just had a little sleep before I brave Tesco.
All the best everyone for today. Hope we at least one of these little babies out today.

PickledInAPearTree Mon 04-Feb-13 14:09:16

Oh Jesus whats a natural sweep... Not with the old porksword?

I swear if I see a penis right now I will actually probably be sick! grin

ImGoingToCountToThree Mon 04-Feb-13 15:16:30

Pickled grin yep you guessed right.
May as well finish the job they way it was started wink

Anyone had any sign yet?

PickledInAPearTree Mon 04-Feb-13 18:10:46

I'm slightly crampy nothing to write home about though.

Bloody knackering this last bit isn't it!

emsyj Mon 04-Feb-13 18:16:40

I got over my ewwwwwwww yuk feeling about it and had a sweep this afternoon - just been to the loo and lots of pink-streaked discharge... MW said I am 2-3cm and cervix very soft, waters bulging so am feeling hopeful. She will do another sweep on Thursday if this one doesn't work.

PickledInAPearTree Mon 04-Feb-13 18:35:18

Was it ok? I have that feeling too.

Hopefully that will start you off...

emsyj Mon 04-Feb-13 20:40:59

It took 2 attempts because I was so tense the first time and I asked MW to stop. It made a massive difference when I actively tried to relax and breathe deeply etc - so I can recommend doing that! It wasn't embarrassing or anything like that, I am pretty shameless so wasn't bothered about whipping off my pants but the thing that I was worried about was the pain of the fingers blush - I could actually feel the discomfort of that easing as I consciously breathed and released the tension.

It is ridiculous really, because I was v-examined in labour last time and then due to DD's distress a male obstetrician had to place a clip on her head, and I didn't feel a thing with either process - not a millisecond of pain, it was no different from someone putting my hair in a ponytail or shaking my hand. It's all in the mind I reckon.

Cupcakemummy85 Mon 04-Feb-13 21:07:53

I'm getting a bit if braxton hicks like contractions with lower back pain and slight period pain. I'm not sure though. What is it like starting labour? I was induced first time so it was litreally, waters went pop, Hollywood gush of water and then massive painful contractions, horrific. What's it like at the start of natural labour?

emsyj Mon 04-Feb-13 21:28:44

OK waters have properly gone now!!! Huge unmistakable gush.

I don't really know what it's like at the start of natural labour Cupcake - because I can't bloody remember! blush My waters went pop last time, then about 3 hours later I had mild contractions, sort of 'Oh is this a contraction??' type feeling, which must have built up I suppose, to a point where I was pacing, breathing and mooing. I was 9cm on admission last time so can't have been that bad - still bricking it now though!!!!

ImGoingToCountToThree Mon 04-Feb-13 21:37:41

Cupcake and Emsy that's really good news sounds like your on your way! Very jealous wink
I'm not sure how it feels either as I have been induced with both previous pregnancies.

The comment on mooing made me smile, I remember whilst in labour thinking I can hear a cow and then the realisation it was actually me smile

Cupcakemummy85 Mon 04-Feb-13 21:47:53

Dh is down stairs working in his office think I will tell him once I am feeling a pattern because nearly every night for a week I've been thinking I have pains lol. I thought it was plug, waters and then contractions but apparently it's not necessarily in that order.
That's amazing emsy about ur waters!! That's so exciting!!

emsyj Mon 04-Feb-13 21:57:14

I'm now sitting on a folded up towel as they periodically gush... DH has gone to get my DMum to come and sit with DD. Contractions seem to have started, but feel quite mild - will call midwife again when they get stronger. Have already texted her to alert! Where I live they are piloting a 'One 2 One' service which is brilliant, and means a midwife (whom I know, whom I have seen for all my appointments from the start) will come to the house to assess me at home before I go to hospital. She would deliver me here but I'm too scared! <wibble>

PickledInAPearTree Mon 04-Feb-13 22:33:19

OH its all moving on! Good news good luck emsy

I didnt lose a thing last time, not until I was in very very active labour cupcake so dont wait for that!

Mine started with period pain type cramps which increased over 12 hours in intensity until they were unmistakeable and I went in 5 mins apart like they say I as 3/4 CM by that point.

katolla Tue 05-Feb-13 00:46:27

It's been so long I'm starting to doubt if I'm pregnant , maybe it IS just fat

PickledInAPearTree Tue 05-Feb-13 08:32:28

Haha, fat that kicks you! Not long now.

Cupcakemummy85 Tue 05-Feb-13 09:02:04

Well false alarm guess I just had a bad back. Roll on sweep on Friday. Wish u could have has and air for that!! Lol I'm now going to go jump on trampolines and bouncy castles with my dd1, perhaps that will get thins going? Lol

ImGoingToCountToThree Tue 05-Feb-13 11:30:54

I wonder how emsyj is getting on?
Nothing here still, apart from a bad nights sleep and a bit of general grumpiness.

emsyj Tue 05-Feb-13 15:58:21

I had a baby girl at home this morning at 3.40am grin. Didn't plan a home birth but midwife was here and no real reason to transfer so I stayed put. The front room is a bit of a mess though, I think the rug is for the bin - thankfully a cheapo Ikea one!!!

No tears or stitches, one minor graze and new DD2 is feeding happily for the millionth time - DH has taken DD1 to soft play, so watching trashy TV and relaxing with my new baby. This is soooooo much nicer than my last new baby experience!!! Amazing - just the most powerful, incredible, bizarre experience ever, and feeling GREAT. smile

Disclaimer: I may be faintly foggy in the head as I haven't actually been to bed yet....

LimeLeafLizard Tue 05-Feb-13 16:32:35

Can I join? 39+4 today.

Congratulations emsy - what a lovely birth story! That post-birth high is a great feeling.

PickledInAPearTree Tue 05-Feb-13 16:49:00

Thats amazing well done emsy.

I had a hospital appointment today and they offered me a sweep I was said no! Not sure why apart from I was wearing dodgy pants and was not expecting it.

katolla Tue 05-Feb-13 17:28:14

Well done emsyj. Jealous.

I had a sweep today but my cervix is long. What does that mean! What is a cervix? Nothing got separated anyway sad

ImGoingToCountToThree Tue 05-Feb-13 18:34:00

Congratulations Emsy!! Well done. That's lovely news. It sounds like you had a lovely birth experience.

Nothing here yet, I'm now 40+4, been bouncing in the birthing ball today....and I've baked....is the baking a sign do you think wink

mmmmsleep Tue 05-Feb-13 18:42:48

Congratulations emsy that's lovely! Jealous!
Thought my waters had gone today but just my non existant pelvic floor to blame for the wet knickers;(

HermioneE Tue 05-Feb-13 19:40:23

Congratulations emsy grin

I'm 37+6, so a touch early to be impatient really, but hey smile it has to happen sometime, right?

Is it weird that I'm quite enjoying the BH? They feel quite tingly... I am aware that the actual labour won't be the same though!!

Cupcakemummy85 Tue 05-Feb-13 20:01:03

Congrats emsy!!!! That amazing news and how lovely to have such a wonderful experience.
I'm still waiting. Getting super tired now, especially after having to take my dd to soft play ( jumping on bouncy castles, chasing my dd around) then having to skip my nap and take her to the park!! I'm so tired I could cry and my friends still want to meet up to c me sad help I need to go into labour to have a break lol

PickledInAPearTree Tue 05-Feb-13 21:58:56

Well I've given birth to something but sadly just a bum grape. Oh the horror!

mmmmsleep Tue 05-Feb-13 23:50:34

Ooh three i hope so i baked 3 cakes today so by the old wives tales i should go any minute! Also scrubbed the floor (i'm a messy baker) and tidied....come on labour. I refuse the natural sweep againsad

ImGoingToCountToThree Wed 06-Feb-13 10:51:32

A few sharpish pains in what feels like my cervix....please come today baby!
Sweep tomorrow confused not looking forward to that at all!...but if it brings on labour then grin
I'm also washing everything in sight DH said " hope this carries on after the baby is born wink"

katolla Wed 06-Feb-13 17:39:15

My sweep was almost painless so don't worry too much. Didn't do anything though. Hoping for another at hospital tomorrow. Hoovering now in case that helps sad

katolla Wed 06-Feb-13 17:39:46

Congrats on your bum grape, Pickled.

PickledInAPearTree Wed 06-Feb-13 17:43:19

Thanks. He's called Barry.

LimeLeafLizard Wed 06-Feb-13 18:08:10

I am getting so fed up now, but hearing about Barry the Bum Grape has cheered me right up! grin

NAR4 Wed 06-Feb-13 18:11:47

Feeling extremely fed up today. My midwife had promised to do a sweep today because I have had painful BH every night for a couple of weeks now, so not much sleep. Got to appointment to find she was off sick and her cover said she wouldn't do a sweep before 41 weeks. Aaaaargh!

Only appointment available for 40 wks (next wk) is at a different surgery, in another village and at a time I am doing the school run. I have been told it is that or nothing. Have booked the appointment but can't see how I am going to be able to do it as don't have anyone who could do the school run for me.

PickledInAPearTree Wed 06-Feb-13 19:56:05

That's shite NAR. Would they send someone to you if you made a fuss?

Barry is fecking huge. I'm now more worried about whopping him out on the table than giving birth which I suppose is good in a way.

How you feeling limeleaf?

BabyClam Wed 06-Feb-13 20:59:15

Bum grapes?! Maybe I should look for them before stripping off for any more checks...
Had a Term+10 check up today and a sweep (which has had no effect) and the baby had a really low heart rate when the braxton hicks came on so I am back in tomorrow at 9:30 to be induced.
No lovely home birth like I planned!
Really gutted actually, I feel like a failure for not doing it my way and letting them talk me into this but it seems wrong to take any chances.
Hope it's a quick induction or I go suddenly tonight!

PickledInAPearTree Wed 06-Feb-13 21:01:30

Aw that's a shame. Don't feel like a failure though. I would do the same - you have to err on the side if caution.

Fingers crossed you get some movement tonight!

Cupcakemummy85 Wed 06-Feb-13 21:07:46

Fingers crossed for you baby I'm sorry you might not get the birth u had planned but it still might happen for you smile I hope it does. Hopefully seeing lots of babies being born on one born every minute will make us all go into labour lol. Mind u I have a docs app for my dd tomorrow which I really don't want to miss so might not b the best for me to go into labour lol.
I'm so active running around after dd I'm surprised nothing has happened yet.

hugahuddy Wed 06-Feb-13 21:09:21

Congratulations emsy! We're all hoping to follow in your footsteps....quickly!

Sorry to hear your labour will not be as you'd hoped babyclam. Perhaps focus that in a day your baby should be with you?! I'm a first timer so am lacking wisdom and experience!

40 plus 3 for me today, still nothing to make me think it's imminent. It's on the to do list to seduce husband and see if any action helps, but the combination of indigestion, groaning whenever I move and a 'Barry' of my own it's hard to get in the mood!!

Come on baby, get diving out!!!!

BabyClam Wed 06-Feb-13 22:05:46

Thanks everyone!
I suggested trying to help the baby out naturally but DP is very squeamish, especially since the midwife doing the sweep said she could feel the head!

NAR4 Thu 07-Feb-13 15:14:22

My DH was feeling the same as yours Babyclam until I pointed out that it might be his last chance for several months. He was suddenly much keener on giving it a go.

NAR4 Thu 07-Feb-13 15:16:03

Babyclam hope the induction starts things off quickly for you. I was induced with all four of mine and you just need to remember that at least it means you are soon to meet your baby.

LimeLeafLizard Thu 07-Feb-13 16:16:36

Hi all... babyclam you have my sympathy, as I am heading along the same road. It is disappointing to miss your homebirth but I think you're making the right decision and at least it won't be too much longer until you meet your baby.

I am 39+6 and have just been booked for induction a week on Sat - i.e. 40+8. I have until Mon if I want a homebirth, after that I have to go into hospital even if labour starts spontaneously. I'm confident that this is a good plan, the right balance of weighing up the risks, but despite all this logic, the waiting is so frustrating! After several sweeps the doc still doesn't think I am anywhere near labour and meanwhile I'm getting dozens of texts asking if there's any news etc.

PickledInAPearTree Thu 07-Feb-13 16:43:29

I am having twinges and feel like its all going in the right direction, but could be here for a week and a half yet!

ImGoingToCountToThree Thu 07-Feb-13 16:44:36

Babyclam and lizard, it's a shame you might not get the births you want, hope things start of for you soon.
I'm in similar situation at 40+6 I've had GD in last two pregnancies and was induced on due date both times.
This time no GD and they leaving me to go into labour on my own...unfortunately the baby hasn't realised this and seems to be studying put.
Just got home from my sweep, 1cm dilated, cervix soft and stretchy and two fifth engaged.
Wasn't very uncomfortable at all.
Induction booked for next Wednesday hmm

ImGoingToCountToThree Thu 07-Feb-13 16:47:45

Pickled, is that Barry or the baby grin

PickledInAPearTree Thu 07-Feb-13 16:55:40

Barry is growing at an alarming rate and I am too scared to investigate further as I think he has a little brother now!

LimeLeafLizard Thu 07-Feb-13 17:14:29

Pickled, if you mean by 'going in the right direction' that you have pressure in the pelvis, that could well explain Barry's growth and the appearance of his little brother, right? And hopefully once your real baby has arrived and the pressure is gone, Barry & pal will tactfully retreat? Hope the twinges come to something.

I am feeling very heavy low down, just alot of pressure, esp when walking around.

ImGoing smile @- 'the baby hasn't realised this'! My sweep result today was exactly the same as yours!

People keep giving me the old advice about pineapple, curry, sex and long walks. All perfectly enjoyable things if you're in the mood for them, but I'm not!

Cupcakemummy85 Thu 07-Feb-13 17:19:11

I don't think I'm feelin much of anything today apart from really crap about myself an really low. Dd has exhausted me with her tantrums and I've just wanted to cry all day. I feel like I cannot move and I'm massive and fat lol. My psd us absolutely killing me and no one around me seems to get how painful it is.
Sweep tomorrow at the butt crack of dawn and I don't think it will do anything sad someone pick me up from this weird and dark mood I'm in sad I just want to c my baby.

PickledInAPearTree Thu 07-Feb-13 18:24:39

LLL - that's made me feel a bit better!

katolla Thu 07-Feb-13 18:32:51

Second sweep today, induction booked for Sunday sad

PickledInAPearTree Thu 07-Feb-13 18:33:22

No joy from the sweep?

katolla Thu 07-Feb-13 19:59:43

My cervix is soft but still an inch long apparently. BH are very frequent and very painful but not regular so not proper, probably just walked too far today (5 miles). Don't want an induction but I'll be 42 weeks on monday. UGH. sad

PickledInAPearTree Thu 07-Feb-13 20:00:36

I really hope you get done movement before then.

MrsHBaby3 Thu 07-Feb-13 20:39:16

hi can I join? Im 37+4 today but would will this baby out if I could! I saw my mw yesterday and she said it'll be a few more weeks which I know really but I still want baby NOW! Ive started the old raspberry leaf tea, and your posts have prompted me to get my lazy ass of the sofa and onto my birth ball. My mw thinks Im further along than I am (38+1) and says I can have a sweep at her 40 weeks, but I'll only be 39+3- my instinct is no it's too early, but do you think it would do anything?? Any harm?

MJP1 Thu 07-Feb-13 20:50:56

Im still waiting been having twinges since Sunday BH, stomach ache, backache etc still nothing it keeps coming and going, been cleaning, bouncing, walking, etc PLEASE COME NOW LITTLE BABY.
I am due Monday so I know its early its just all these signs that things are occuring !!!

Plus is it normal to be SO VERY HUNGRY at this point?I cannot stop eating

Moochicken Thu 07-Feb-13 23:00:43

Meant to update sooner.

DS arrived just after midnight on Monday morning. Had mild contractions all day on Sunday that went from every 20 mins to every 3 to 5 mins over the course of the day. When I went to the hospital to get checked the midwife said it wasn't established labour and that my cervix was still quite long. She gave me a sweep and we we told to go back home. Within 10 mins the contractions were very strong and then my waters broke in the car journey home. DS was born around an hour and a half after labour started.

The whole experience was pretty surreal after my previous labour, which was a 2 day long induction ending with a forceps delivery.

Now we just need to get to grips with sleeping and feeding!

mmmmsleep Fri 08-Feb-13 07:11:36

Congratulations moo chicken. You give me hope that my second time around will be easier than first too! Good luck for some sleep. X

PickledInAPearTree Fri 08-Feb-13 09:37:54

No other news? I don't feel "birthy ". Today!

Actually feel quite chipper this morning!

HermioneE Fri 08-Feb-13 10:10:18

Congratulations moochicken!

No news here, just uncomfortable with backache. Considering scrubbing the kitchen floor to get things going, but it seems a bit drastic tbh <lazy>

Cupcake and katolla I hope your sweeps are having the right effect!

ImGoingToCountToThree Fri 08-Feb-13 10:15:32

Congratulations moo!!

I had period type pain and backache in the night after my sweep but nothing this morninghmm

Good luck to you all today. I hope those sweeps are having a effect.

emsyj Fri 08-Feb-13 11:04:05

Congratulations Moochicken - fingers crossed for all the others still waiting for babies to arrive. It is totally worth waiting for - and the feeling of not being huge and pregnant any more is BLISS, hope it's not too much longer for everyone.

smile

Cupcakemummy85 Fri 08-Feb-13 13:36:11

I've had my first sweep and the midwife said my cervix is favourable and I'm 1-2 cm already. Is that good? My dd was up all last night so I'm not sure i have the energy for labour but I'm eating lots of biscuits for the energy of course ;)

bangersmashandbeans Fri 08-Feb-13 13:39:29

Think I need to join this thread! I'm 39+5, had a sweep yesterday, had a show and have had some pretty savage tightenings and now 'loose' bowels....someone tell me it's happening soon??!!

NAR4 Fri 08-Feb-13 14:16:47

Congratulations Moochicken.

Sorry bangers by I have been like that for the past two weeks and still nothing. I'll cross my fingers for you though that yours soon becomes established labour.

bangersmashandbeans Fri 08-Feb-13 14:22:07

Aah don't tell me things like that!!! Bouncing bouncing bouncing....curry for lunch blah blah blah! confused

PickledInAPearTree Fri 08-Feb-13 14:28:41

That sounds promising bangers - get timing them.

Your user name has made me want bangers mash & beans now though!

NAR4 Fri 08-Feb-13 14:28:51

Is it your first bangers? It is more likely to mean labour will start soon if it is. Mine is my fifth and they are often very slow to get labour going unfortunately.

PickledInAPearTree Fri 08-Feb-13 14:29:09

Oh NAR4 - Argh!

bangersmashandbeans Fri 08-Feb-13 14:32:29

It's my second but was induced at 38 weeks with my first so not used to this waiting game! My best friend lives in Australia and has a family emergency so is back for a week very suddenly from Sunday so I'm under big pressure to get this baby out!

NAR4 Fri 08-Feb-13 14:38:38

I have my fingers crossed for you bangers.

bangersmashandbeans Fri 08-Feb-13 14:51:25

Thank you!!

bangersmashandbeans Fri 08-Feb-13 17:22:54

So I have had mild contractions every 20ish mins for the last hour could this be it?!

PickledInAPearTree Fri 08-Feb-13 17:43:40

Yes could be! Have you got a timer? I think that you go in when they are 5ish mins apart but dont muck about on your 2nd. They can come quickly!

Fingers crossed for you.

I feel like I could just about explode, but I dont think its labour related!

bangersmashandbeans Fri 08-Feb-13 17:53:34

They are pretty regular but mild and only lasting 30 seconds ish. My first labour was stupidly quick but as I was induced I don't know if it's an indication of how this one will go? Oh well I'm only 5 mins from the hospital so ill be fine. Got to bath a 3 year old in the mean time!!

LimeLeafLizard Fri 08-Feb-13 18:45:18

Evening everyone. bangers all sounds promising for you! FX those contractions soon start coming a bit more often. Sometimes it can take a day or two for them to really get going into 'proper' labour.

Congratulations to MooChicken - great news!

Cupcake hope you're feeling a bit chirpier today. All this waiting can really get you down.

I have now had 5 sweeps in the past couple of weeks and am a bit disillusioned about their effectiveness!

I am feeling mild contractions and crampy, but as this is DC4, it is like NAR says, and I know not to get too hopeful until they are really painful!

LimeLeafLizard Fri 08-Feb-13 18:46:03

ps pickled how is Barry today? Hope he's retreated a bit.

PickledInAPearTree Fri 08-Feb-13 18:52:08

That's how I started. Period type pains & cramps which increased on hurtiness throughout the day. I'm hopeful for you bangers!

LLL he is still there sadly. Bloody menace! Not too painful but huge!

Your fourth! It will be like shelling peas for you.

bangersmashandbeans Fri 08-Feb-13 18:55:19

Pickled I have a few of Barry's mates having a party here too hmm Doc says I will need surgery which they can't do till after I deliver which is why I've managed to convince my consultant to do an early sweep.

PickledInAPearTree Fri 08-Feb-13 18:59:02

Surgery oh my are they bad then? Poor you!

bangersmashandbeans Fri 08-Feb-13 19:02:01

They are thrombosed so essentially have clotted. Pretty horrendous to be honest!

PickledInAPearTree Fri 08-Feb-13 19:08:22

Oh my good god. You poor thing!

LimeLeafLizard Fri 08-Feb-13 22:01:36

oh poor you, bangers - the things women have to go through to bring babies into the world! Though surgery might be a pain, at least they'll all be completely cleared up rather than waiting for them to go down of their own accord. I've been lucky they've never bothered me apart from a week or two after my first baby.

pickled I only wish you were right about the shelling peas thing! Instead here I am at 40 weeks with not a glimmer of a baby and all my labours have been stupidly long. Friend of a friend just delivered her DC1 a week early and labour only lasted 2.5 hours. I am envy.

LadyMaryCrawley Fri 08-Feb-13 22:24:38

I've been meaning to update too as I was on this thread on Sunday...

Dd arrived Monday afternoon via emcs after 13 hours of contractions and drip left me only 1cm and not progressing. But we're home now and dd is just perfect!

Congratulations to all the new mummies and good luck to those of you still waiting!

bangersmashandbeans Fri 08-Feb-13 22:38:10

Congrats ladymary! My contractions are now averaging 7 mins apart and lasting 50-60 seconds so think ill give the hospital a call in a bit (and probably be told to bugger off!!)

PickledInAPearTree Fri 08-Feb-13 22:49:47

Thats good news bangers I wager you will have a baby by the morning!

Oh im in agony tonight so swollen and sore around the top by my ribs. Ow!

PickledInAPearTree Fri 08-Feb-13 22:50:26

Well done Lady Mary!

LimeLeafLizard Sat 09-Feb-13 08:54:06

Congratulations LadyM - great news. Getting some birth momentum on the thread now! FX bangers will come back soon with some good news too.

ImGoingToCountToThree Sat 09-Feb-13 09:28:15

Congratulations ladymary! smile
Bangers I winced when I read about your thrombosis and I was feeling sorry for myself every time I reached for the Germaloid tube shock as if pregnancy and birth isn't
painful enough.
Lizard-anymore signs?
I've had quite a few mild tightens since early hours and woke feeling nauseous and shaky and then felt the need to rush to the loo for the other end <sorry TMI>
Still in bed on my 2nd brew, don't want to move in case they stop.

HermioneE Sat 09-Feb-13 10:19:50

Congratulations LadyM!

Hope things are going well for you bangers smile

NAR4 Sat 09-Feb-13 11:32:05

Congratulations Lady.

Bangers its all sounding very promising.

Limeleaf I sympathise completely. The midwifes were convinced (despite my history) that my fourth baby would practically fall out. She took 38.5 hours with the drip on full, to keep my contractions going. They had laughably even talked me through what to do if I suddenly gave birth at home on my own because I hadn't had enough time to get to hospital. Chance would of been a fine thing! Hoping my body has finally got the hang of it this time and it will be easy peasy.

PickledInAPearTree Sat 09-Feb-13 11:37:55

Hopefully bangers has had the baby FX.

Any more for any more?

Nothing happening here. It would be very convenient today too as MIL is here and could mind DS so you can bet it won't happen today.

bangersmashandbeans Sat 09-Feb-13 19:32:42

Hi everyone, I had a beautiful baby boy in the early hours of this morning. Pretty straightforward labour and birth and we are home already! Feeling battered and bruised and very tearful but delighted our bundle of joy is finally here safe and sound.

PickledInAPearTree Sat 09-Feb-13 19:34:45

Oh brilliant news! grin

NAR4 Sat 09-Feb-13 19:48:49

Thats great bangers. I'm rather jealous.

ImGoingToCountToThree Sat 09-Feb-13 20:24:10

Ahh congratulations bangers, lovely news.
Ok who's next? grin

LimeLeafLizard Sat 09-Feb-13 21:29:37

Congratulations bangers - fab news and I can admit I'm very jealous!

Thanks NAR it is good to know I'm not the only one still going over / being induced with 4th baby. My IOL is scheduled for a week today so at least I know I should be in labour by then.

Well since sex and sweeps didn't work, today we went over to some friends house, went for a walk and ordered a very spicy curry take out. So far I don't feel any closer to having the baby but at least we've had a lovely afternoon.

mmmmsleep Sat 09-Feb-13 23:14:00

Congrats bangers that's great news!!
Very jealous although no right to be impatient really as only 38 wks but ds started to arrive then so by next week will feel overdue and been having runs of regular contractions for few hours that then stop for few weeks so am being teased a little. Having vbac but section date booked for 41 weeks as no one coming near me with induction ever ever again so just hoping something happens before then or will be gutted to end up with section when my best childcare options are running out.

Good luck to everyone else for a quick and easy birth asap!

PickledInAPearTree Sat 09-Feb-13 23:14:53

I'm 39 + 1 tomorrow where is everyone else?

ImGoingToCountToThree Sun 10-Feb-13 05:43:37

I'm 41+2 today hmm
Period type pains and tightenings off and on, some strong others not.
Little bit of back ache off and on.
Really want to avoid induction on Wednesday but at least then I know it won't be long until we meet our DC3 smile

Just wanted to say quick hello to like leaf lizard (waves)! We were on ttc thread together. Lll, hope dc arrives soon, I'm 32+6, so hopefully a while to go yet. Good luck top all.

Cupcakemummy85 Sun 10-Feb-13 08:20:23

Congrats bangers. That's great news!! I'm 40 weeks today an. I can't see I will be one of the 5% to give birth on their due date so on with the second sweep in Tuesday. I will do everything to avoid induction even a spring clean and going to countless soft play places (i always have to follow my dd down the slides and up ladders) lol !!!! I think I lost some of my mucus plug though. Wasn't like last time it was only a little bit this time and last time tere was a lot. Sound like a plug to you?

hugahuddy Sun 10-Feb-13 10:20:04

Congratulations bangers, that's fantastic news!! Hope you get chance to sleep and recover!!

Think I might be racing 'I'm going to count to three' !! I'm 41 weeks today. Had mild period cramps on and off over the last few days. Dtd last night but it hasn't got the ball rolling! Politely declined sweep last Tuesday when 2 days overdue and debating whether to accept one that will be offered this Tuesday!!

taps foot impatiently

PickledInAPearTree Sun 10-Feb-13 10:41:58

Aw gawd I'm well behind done of you

I'm going to have to have a sooty & sweep on Friday I think.

bangersmashandbeans Sun 10-Feb-13 12:44:04

Well I know there are mixed reviews about them but a sweep definitely did it for me - had a sweep Thursday morning then went home and scrubbed cupboards and skirting boards etc, played with DD in the afternoon, bounced on the ball all evening, walked Friday morning, cleaned and bounced Friday afternoon, pains started so I stood up and did an hours ironing and by 1am I was 5-6 cm. Gave birth at half four. So get busy ladies!!

clarelou13 Sun 10-Feb-13 14:48:31

Hello, Im 38+5 today. Been losing my plug for last 3 days and hoping baby comes soon. Went overdue by 10 days with DD and ended up with EMCS last time, so same as mmmmsleep, booked in for csec at 41 weeks. Have a friend in RL who is now 9 days overdue and feels a bit like we are in a race too, to see who gets there first. Although, both due to go to same hospital and I think our babies have been chatting and we will end up in together smile
Had a mild backache today with some sharp tightenings, but until Im doubled over in pain, I won't believe I am actually in labour. (With DD I was in early labour for about 40 hours!!)

CackleALot Sun 10-Feb-13 16:30:33

Hi All, can I join in the waiting game please? I've been reading posts for the last week - being very nosey! smile

Congratulations to all the safe arrivals! You've all made it seem very easy grin

I'm 38 wks today so a little behind some of you. This is my 2nd although first time around I had CS. Was booked in for elcs due to frank breech but ds decided to come the day before (5 days before due date) so ended up with a emcs instead!

Trying for vbac this time which is quite scary but asked to be booked in for CS at 41 wks as I don't want induced either.

Saw MW last week who said I feel ready to go anytime & she'd give me 6 days! Now I'm stupidly believing she is psychic and watching for signs! I can't remember any signs with D's, waters went unexpectedly (as i was preparing hosp bag to go in that evening!) and contractions started straight after.

Anyway, sorry for long post! blush Looking forward to hearing everyone's stories!

mmmmsleep Sun 10-Feb-13 20:11:31

Welcome cackle and clarelou...
Fingers crossed we all have lovely vbacs and shell our little peas soon.

PickledInAPearTree Sun 10-Feb-13 20:20:53

I didn't know VBAC meant after caesarian and kept going on threads saying I wanted one too blush

LimeLeafLizard Sun 10-Feb-13 21:32:34

Period type pains and tightenings off and on, some strong others not.
Little bit of back ache off and on.
ImGoing yes, exactly the same here. It is tempting to start timing them but they're bound to stop then!

I'm 40+2 today.

SilentMammoth thanks for stopping by to say hello! Funny to think it has been a whole year since we were all on the ttc threads! Hope you're doing well, 32 weeks so not too long for you to go either.

LimeLeafLizard Sun 10-Feb-13 21:34:58

Also, welcome to clare and cackle - hope you manage to get your VBACs.

MJP1 Sun 10-Feb-13 22:26:22

Due date tomorrow, had a week of period type pains, back ache, braxton Hicks, nausea etc and tonight same again REALLY HOPE its really starting so want this baby NOW!!

PickledInAPearTree Sun 10-Feb-13 22:28:40

Hi all and new folk!

Nothing to report here, very sore downstairs now and walking hard. Not long to go though. Well bloody hopefully!

Cupcakemummy85 Mon 11-Feb-13 08:31:44

Over my due date now. Carrying in as normal and going to rhyme time, if my waters break there so be it lol. No point stopping just because I might go into labour somewhere inconvenient lol. Another sweep tomorrow yay lol

Happykitten Mon 11-Feb-13 08:41:20

9 days over now. Yesterday the fed up stage hit despite trying to carry on as normal. Out for lunch with a friend today then a trip to Asda I think to pass the time.

bopfactory Mon 11-Feb-13 08:41:38

Hi ladies, can I join in? Due tomorrow with DC4 and like ImGoing and LimeLeaf I have had all sorts of cramps and twinges for the past week, especially over the weekend, but they never seem to come to anything!

Having a sweep on Friday if nothing's happened by then - really hoping I will give birth this week as it's half term and will be so much more convenient not having to worry about school run and packed lunches etc!

LimeLeafLizard Mon 11-Feb-13 08:56:54

Nothing to report here this morning either, despite being woken about 6am by a couple of very painful contractions which then stopped. Arrggh! Like cupcake I'm going to take DC3 to a toddler class anyway - we've got to do something to get out of the house or I'll go mad.

I heard that Waitrose / John Lewis give you £100 vouchers if your waters break in one of their stores, so maybe we should all go and walk up and down the aisles there and see if we can cash in!

Hi bop - I'm also thinking about how half term will affect my baby delivery plans. The only good thing about going overdue is that I know now that DH will definitely be off work for all of half term, so even if I 'loose' his help at home, at least he can take the kids out and about rather than leaving me alone with all 4 (as would have happened if I'd had the baby last week).

ImGoingToCountToThree Mon 11-Feb-13 10:24:49

Hello to all the new waiting ladies.
Well yesterday had lots of backache and period type ache all day, I then bounced on my birthing ball in the evening and it all ground to a halt after that hmm I had one particularly strong contraction before that too.

Hugabuddy- are you going to have the sweep tomorrow? Hope it works.

Lizard- we do seem to be having very similar symptoms, lets hope something comes of them today.

Grabbed DH before work and he was more than happy to do the deed before work, his lovely face lit up grin Im hoping it will stir something up and kick start things.
41+3 today. 2 days until induction.

NAR4 Mon 11-Feb-13 14:06:57

I have 3 days until my due date, so am just being ridiculously impatient really. Its my bodys fault for teasing me with all these signs; period pains, intense back ache, strong BH, losing mucus plug all over the last few weeks. Never had these signs with any of my others so had convinced myself that it actually meant labour was imminent and I would be able to avoid another induction.

Given up hope now and if I don't get a sweep on Thursday or it doesn't work, then will just resign myself to 2 more weeks of waiting and then an induction. Looked at the NICE guidelines on going over 42 weeks and think I would just be a nervous wreck, so won't be refusing an induction.

My hospital doesn't induce before 42 weeks but where I had my first 3 used to induce at 10 days over. What about everyone elses hospital?

PickledInAPearTree Mon 11-Feb-13 14:40:40

That's rubbish NARS hope we can all avoid an induction.

I'm lying down can hardly walk stabbing pains and feeling of immense pressure in my undercarriage.

I dread to think of the state I will be in if it lasts two more weeks, bloody Nora!

Panzee Mon 11-Feb-13 14:50:48

Hello! I'm 40+1 and hoping for VBAC too. Got lots of Braxton Hicks but that's about all.

ImGoingToCountToThree Mon 11-Feb-13 15:06:30

NARS our hospital induce at 12 days over. I would like a e tea couple of days but I'm thinking the same as you, I would be a nervous wreck, I already break out in a sweat if I haven't felt it move for 20 mins.

Pickled you sound very uncomfortable, have you got one of those ring cushions you could sit on? Take the pressure of a bit maybe.

Just been for a very cold and windy walk for a hour, some very strong tightenings and lots of very sharp cervix type pain....took my breath away a couple of times.

CackleALot Mon 11-Feb-13 15:53:51

Thanks for the welcome ladies smile

There are a few of us on here hoping for vbac smile

Nar - all sounds very frustrating, having all the signs but nothing happening.

I too am getting really sharp pains down below and immense pressure pushing down if I walk any distance.

OH totally refusing to 'dtd' as he says it freaks him out being so close to due date! grin

I've only had one week of maternity leave and bored already (nesting has not set in so no motivation to clean in this house!). How's everyone else passing their time?

LimeLeafLizard Mon 11-Feb-13 16:26:49

Pickled do you think the stabbing pains could be contractions? Or are they in the wrong place?

NAR I was exactly the same with DC3, loads of signs (BH, backache, period pain etc) for weeks and still was 11 days over - it is very annoying indeed. Hope your sweep helps. They usually induce at 10-12 days over in our hospital. I asked to wait with DC1 and he was born 14 days over, this time I'm booked for IOL at 40 +8 due to previous big baby.

As to what to do to pass the time - well one thing about being a SAHM is no maternity leave! So I am doing my normal routine of school runs / toddler groups / cooking / washing and fitting in coffee with friends to cheer me up! All the school mums have been great this time - cheering me on without piling on the pressure.

NAR4 Tue 12-Feb-13 09:07:47

Limeleaf I had a big baby (for me, 8lb 4oz) 2nd time around, which got stuck and because of this they induced me on my due date with my 3rd. That was a different hospital and this one won't induce earlier because of a possible big baby. Last baby, my waters broke but no contractions, so was only 2 days past due date when induced and she was still 7lb 14oz.

I'm mostly a SAHM since my fourth child, so like limeleaf am just carrying on as normal, although rather fed up confirming baby still hasn't been born. I stopped childminding last week and stop youth work on my due date (14th), so hoping I won't have much time to be bored.

Stuck in at the moment though because DD and me both have the most disgusting cold, which we got from a child who had been taken to toddler group, after being sent home from school sick. Others mothers can be so thoughtless sometimes!

Sorry, winge over. Get popping everyone!

clarelou13 Tue 12-Feb-13 10:18:43

Thanks for the welcome smile Just checking in, still no sign of baby here, although only 39 weeks today. But like lots of other ladies, body is teasing me with signs that labour is imminent. Im too now on 2nd week of mat leave and already climbing the walls, especially as stuck at home with no car at moment.

PickledInAPearTree Tue 12-Feb-13 11:20:37

How can you all get out and about?

I can't walk far I feel an enormous pressure down below! Been in for a out 2 weeks now so going slowly bonkers.

Been to GP about this pile it's ginormous and got some cream.

Very very miserable today!

Cupcakemummy85 Tue 12-Feb-13 13:25:40

I feel ur pain pickled!! I really do!! I'm doing the bare minimum of getting out and about at the moment. Still going to groups but taking someone with me to do all the running around lol.
Had second sweep today, not much happening. Midwife said if nothing happens we book my induction on Saturday sad

PickledInAPearTree Tue 12-Feb-13 13:28:20

What you actually get induced on Saturday CupCake?

Cupcakemummy85 Tue 12-Feb-13 13:40:38

No, I have1 more sweep and then they book me in. Really sucks cause I wanted the whole experience of going into labour naturally. The baby didnt move much on Sunday and mw said if that happens again then I have to b induced immediately.
I was wondering actually if anyone has had a water birth cause I would really really love one. My dh thinks I'm mad and should just have an epidural like last time but I only needed that cause of my blood pressure.

PickledInAPearTree Tue 12-Feb-13 13:43:11

Aw fingers crossed for you.. Im going to the MW on Friday and if nothings happened will discus sweeps etc it would be ideal for me to go into labour over the weekend in terms of getting someone to mind DS however this means of course it wont happen!

Cupcakemummy85 Tue 12-Feb-13 18:31:17

Fingers crossed for you too pickled. I seem to keep leaking and it's not like the Hollywood gush if water I had before so I'm not sure f it's my waters or wee lol. I called the hospital and he said its either waters or jelly from the sweep ( don't see how jelly could leak through a panty liner). so not sure what's going on. Was told to put a pad on and let them know what's on it. I don't want to have to go in to hospital and out again, I'm far too tired lol

NAR4 Wed 13-Feb-13 09:11:31

Should get it checked Cupcake. My waters broke with my fourth and it wasn't a gush, just a slow trickle, like I was leaking wee. Didn't go into labour though, so still had to be induced. If it is your waters, there is a risk of infection and they normally only like to leave you 24 hours or so before inducing labour.

hugahuddy Wed 13-Feb-13 15:10:23

Well i met the midwife on Tuesday at 41 +2, I said I didn't want sweep if possible, she was great and said I didn't have too but need to be booked for induction. Booked for Sunday, should have been Friday but was 'lucky' to have a couple more days as the hospital packed. Was teary yesterday and keep telling myself to man up, so long as little one ok it's all good but a far cry from the home water birth we'd hoped for!! Debating asking for sweep tomorrow or Friday as last hope of natural start.

Bored bored bored at home. Have come to Asda for a walk around!! Some mild cramping and very heavy feeling down there but no bh or anything....harrumph confused

NAR4 Wed 13-Feb-13 15:41:39

There is still time for you to go into labour yourself hugahuddy. Good luck.

hugahuddy Wed 13-Feb-13 16:12:08

Thanks nar. Sounds like your very busy with other dc! Might seem odd me moaning about being bored!!

Any advice about bringing on labour?! Done curry, staying active and Dtd, any others?!

PickledInAPearTree Wed 13-Feb-13 16:17:50

If probably give the sweep a go if your really keen on a water birth, worth a shot?

No sign yet NARS?

bangersmashandbeans Wed 13-Feb-13 16:21:56

I'd agree with giving a sweep a go. It can just assist tipping you over the edge into labour. I was induced with my first (all ok but horrendously quick which was scary) and had a sweep with DS born on Saturday. Sweep done Thursday and went into labour naturally Friday afternoon. I'd definitely consider it. Good luck all!

PickledInAPearTree Wed 13-Feb-13 16:23:30

I'm seeing the mw Friday. How are your unwelcome visitors bangers? I think mine might be heading to thrombosis too.

And how is the new addition? grin

bangersmashandbeans Wed 13-Feb-13 16:52:29

New addition is just perfect thanks pickled. Unwelcome visitors are very bad though. I'm pretty much completely immobile - can stagger to the kitchen or bathroom but have to lie down the rest of the time. Feeding baby is very hard as I can't sit down. Have spent most of today in tears because the pain is so bad. Yet another docs appt booked for an hours time and they are going to look at lancing it. Petrified but honestly can't see how it can get worse sad Bad news if yours are heading that way too. Have they got a blue-ish tinge to them?

NAR4 Wed 13-Feb-13 17:19:15

No labour yet pickled.

Hugahuddy lots of old wives tales;

walking
bouncing on the birthing ball
hot bath and relax
sex (the sperm and the orgasm are both meant to help)
LOTS of pineapple (about 7 fresh ones)
hot curry
cod liver oil and orange juice (although I have heard this can be dangerous)
Clary Sage oil
pressure points (you can google where these are)
nipple stimulation
acupuncture
cod liver capsules to soften cervix
hula hoop on the Wii fit (suggestion from my last midwife)
cuddling a newborn (the happy hormones are meant to start labour)

Don't think any of them work (or nobody would need hospital inductions) but gives you something to focus on and pass some time, just working your way through them.

Bangers your bum grapes sound truely horrific and I feel very lucky not to have them. Hope the Dr can work some miracle for you and ease your pain. ave you tried frozen witch hazel pads to help with the discomfort a little?

PickledInAPearTree Wed 13-Feb-13 17:26:24

Oh no bangers! Mine are bright red but I can't sit and struggle to walk too I'm going straight to drs after baby is born.

I got some steroid cream and I'm going to order a ring cushion too. Have you got one of those?

Dr told me he would lance it if its like this after.

bangersmashandbeans Wed 13-Feb-13 17:38:43

Your doc sounds better than mine pickled. My doc says they don't advise using the rings anymore but whatever makes you comfy!!

PickledInAPearTree Wed 13-Feb-13 18:48:30

Oh do you know why not? I'm sick of lying down!!

My dr was lovely but I didn't want to do much till after as I was hoping it might get better but I think that's just wishful thinking!

bangersmashandbeans Wed 13-Feb-13 19:16:29

It's something to do with gravity making them worse I think? Just got back and didn't get lanced! He said I would need to go on anti biotics which would affect breastfeeding, there is a huge risk of infection, I would bleed for 6 weeks, and basically he would strongly advise against it! He's given me a decent local anaesthetic and reckons massaging it (urgh) will help it right itself. God I hope so!!

PickledInAPearTree Wed 13-Feb-13 19:18:07

Oh god! That's why I said no to anything but my dr was a bit more gung ho.

Have you got a bunch or one big?

PickledInAPearTree Wed 13-Feb-13 19:19:10

What anesthetic did he give you? Ill be after some if its good. I have uniroid cream.

bangersmashandbeans Wed 13-Feb-13 19:47:32

I have two small ones which aren't a problem and one that's the size of a plum blush (when the doc examined me earlier he said 'cor blimey that's a beast'!!) He's given me Xyloproct so I'll let you know if it helps. He says its stronger than the local anaesthetic he uses for minor surgery.

PickledInAPearTree Wed 13-Feb-13 22:12:16

Shit! Thanks for telling me the name ill be asking for that next week.

This thing feels about the size of half my thumb? It's a big un but not in your league, but it's growing and throbbing..

Hopefully that will stop it hurting!

Sorry everyone for the pile hijacking!

mmmmsleep Thu 14-Feb-13 08:12:31

Right had enough. Only 39 weeks but these braxton hicks and being too uncomfortable to sleep are getting to me....i know the sleep may not exactly improve after but i do remember sleeping better once ds was out than in. These hourly bladder wake up calls are getting on my nerves as are dd headbutting my cervix in a rather rude and painful manner. Woke up at one point last night dreaming i was crowningsad

LimeLeafLizard Thu 14-Feb-13 08:27:54

Oh I've missed loads. 40+6 here and still nothing. Going to see the MW today and ask if I can have another sweep. I'm totally disillusioned as to their effectiveness but it doesn't hurt to have another go.

I have a stinking cold and feel really sorry for myself. Like mmmsleep I am not getting much sleep either which makes everything seem more annoying.

Coming on here makes me grateful not to have any loitering Barrys though... ouch. Hope your docs continue to be supportive ladies and that you get some comfort from the medicine.

NAR4 Thu 14-Feb-13 09:11:02

Lime I have all my hopes pinned on having a sweep today and it starting labour off. Hope your second one works. Like you I have a terrible cold and it has just gone on and on. Beginning to think it won't clear now until I have had the baby. I think you are right and the lack of sleep does make everything worse. Think it will be better once baby is born and then remember night feeds and not so sure. DD had got this cold as well and is also teething, so currently waking up several times a night crying. She will only settle, sleeping in my arms, so not sure how that is going to work once baby is born, unless she is suddenly feeling much better.

Cupcakemummy85 Thu 14-Feb-13 11:20:06

Started contacting this morning at 4 put tenns machine on, all looked promising and many hours later nothing! I didn't know this could happen. Feeling bit deflated. Hope everyone else has better luck than me smile

Cupcakemummy85 Thu 14-Feb-13 11:23:16

Well actually, I'm having contractions still buT they are very very very at apart and short sad what is going on?!

LimeLeafLizard Thu 14-Feb-13 11:30:19

Cupcake could be the start of something? (ok, a slow start!) Or just your body warming up. Either way a good sign, hope they get stronger soon!

NAR sounds like we're in the same boat then. I feel like I've been ill constantly this winter, and the DCs are taking it in turn to be ill too. DS1 and 3 both have the cold. DS1 is ok - Calpol and off to school as he's not too bad, but DS3 is like your DD - really unsettled at night.

I just want the baby out and to be well again! At least it isn't so cold today.

NAR4 Thu 14-Feb-13 14:24:43

What time is your sweep Lime? Mine isn't until 4pm.

Someone on another thread suggested Lavendar oil in a nice warm bath and a relax after the sweep, can help. Won't be able to do that until after work tonight (about 10pm) and all the DCs are in bed, but sounds much nicer than other old wives tales, so will give it a try late tonight.

PickledInAPearTree Thu 14-Feb-13 14:52:28

Good luck with your sweeps, NARS it will help your cold for sure, being pregnant increases your mucous ice had a blocked nose on and off for months waking up with horrible sore lips and a mouth like the bottom of a budgies cage. Good luck.

NAR4 Thu 14-Feb-13 15:14:45

Thanks Pickled, hopefully I will be able to update tomorrow after I get home with my new baby (wishfull thinking).

PickledInAPearTree Thu 14-Feb-13 16:55:08

Have your sweeps been done now?

Cupcakemummy85 Thu 14-Feb-13 16:56:55

Yes I hope it is the start of it lime. I've been contracting all day and I'm climbing the walls it's getting so painful now. How long will a hospital love u contracting like this. It's horrible!! I have a tens machine on and all it is doing is making my back feel weird. Lol

PickledInAPearTree Thu 14-Feb-13 16:58:12

How long in between Cup? They say 5 mins but if the pain is too bad just call them and go in, its your second things can move fast.

Good Luck!

NAR4 Thu 14-Feb-13 17:13:44

Very exciting Cupcake, not long now.

I just got back from the midwife, she says my cervix are central, thined and very favourable. She said I was 3cm already and the sweep was easy to perform, which she says is a good sign. Midwife said if it is going to do anything then it will happen within the next 24 hours. Either way she said she would be very surprised to see me at 41 weeks. Lets hope she is right.

Limeleaf how did your sweep go?

PickledInAPearTree Thu 14-Feb-13 17:17:13

Thats brilliant news NARS.

Really hope this is it!

Cupcakemummy85 Thu 14-Feb-13 17:26:55

Wow nars that's great!! 3cm already and without even trying, perfect! I've called them up as I was litreally on all fours in the kitchen doing dd dinner. I'm an emotional wreck about not putting dd to bed tonight (control freak!!!!) but the midwife is going to examin me and see if I'm dilated and give me some pain relief. The contractions are around 5-6 mins each. I'd love to discover that I'm really dilate and I have a super high pain threshold. That would b perfect. If also like to sneeze the baby out too if possible lol

GreenOlives Thu 14-Feb-13 17:50:52

Hello ladies, mind if I join you? Im only 38+4 but I really want to have this baby soon!! I have spd which is getting worse every day but my main problem is Percy Pile and friends which are wedged between my bum cheeks and causing mucho pain! Having been using over the counter creams with no improvement and im wondering whether its worth a trip to docs? Had anybody had any luck with prescription treatments? I have a DS already (4.8) and he was a difficult birth -forceps/shoulder dystocia after a 44hr labour. He weighed 10lbs and his head circ was off the chart! shock
This one is looking on the large side too so I start having sweeps from next Mon (39+1) in the hope we can get things moving. If no joy with that then I have an ELCS booked for 4th March (41+1) but I really can't wait that long!!
Fingers crossed to those of you with encouraging signs - may your births be sneeze like (and soon!) grin

bangersmashandbeans Thu 14-Feb-13 19:15:46

You go girls!! Think we'll have a few more babies before the week is our!
Welcome greenolives - you're not alone with your mate Percy. It's thoroughly bloody miserable and I'm afraid it'll only get worse after delivery sad

bangersmashandbeans Thu 14-Feb-13 20:06:41

Sorry greenolives just re read my comment and realised it was less than helpful! I've been to the doc several times pre and post birth and the best prescription ones are those containing hydrocortisone - not to be used long term in pregnancy but as you are so close i would def see the doc as nothing over the counter worked for me.

LimeLeafLizard Thu 14-Feb-13 20:53:01

Welcome Olives. Poor you with spd and percy to contend with. Hope you get an easier birth this time.

Cupcake, sounds promising! Good luck tonight!

My sweep didn't go as well as yours, NAR. Still about 2cm, (same as last time), middle, softish, but not nearly effaced enough to be optimistic about having any effect. MW asked me if I wanted her to ring the hospital about having the induction tomorrow instead of waiting till Saturday and as they now have space, I'm going to go in.

Might check in tomorrow morning, otherwise will post back when I have some news!

PickledInAPearTree Thu 14-Feb-13 21:17:47

Hi green! Barry says hi to Percy!

Don't worry bangers it's best to know.

I've been having cramps tonight, got ds baby sitter on an amber alert.

Any more news?

After this is over we need to set up a Bum Support thread it does help to know other people are in the same horrible boat!

PickledInAPearTree Thu 14-Feb-13 21:18:46

Oh olives mine has def been a little better since the dr gave me steroid cream.. It's not smaller but hurts less.

hugahuddy Thu 14-Feb-13 21:55:27

Well it is getting exciting!!

Cupcake, any news?!

Nar, sounds good progress even if slow progress!

Pickled, sounds like you're headed in the right direction, I'm jealous of your cramping!!!!

Lll it sounds good to have that option and get the show on the road, waiting is my least favourite hobby!!

I'm 41+4, been trying to get things going but no luck so far so have asked for sweep tomorrow in the hope to get things going before booked induction on Sunday, so will hopefully meet our boy this week.

GreenOlives Thu 14-Feb-13 22:26:16

Thanks for the advice ladies! Think I will try and get doctors appt for tom, I have been using 1% hydrocortisone that I bought from the chemist but sounds like something stronger might help a bit! Im all for the Bum Support Thread afterwards! grin

LLL Good luck tomorrow, hope you get a decent nights sleep.
Nar and Cupcake Hope things are getting moving!
Can't remember who was having cramps now and on phone so can't scroll back but good luck - hope it progresses!

As inspiration a lady on an ante-natal thread Im on gave birth today at 39 weeks. Contractions started at 7am, baby born by 9.30 shock No messing, amazing! grin Im hoping to have the same experience myself!

CackleALot Thu 14-Feb-13 23:16:12

Hi Ladies, just popping in as Lloyd the Haemorrhoid wants to join forces with Barry & Percy sad Definitely up for a bum thread!

Watching thread in anticipation with everyone's niggles etc...

PickledInAPearTree Fri 15-Feb-13 00:06:16

I think my waters leaked about earlier.

Just in bed now trying to get some sleep just in case though the cramps are dying down.

Probably a false alarm, seeing the MW tomorrow anyway.

PickledInAPearTree Fri 15-Feb-13 00:08:49

Oh just had a stinker!

PickledInAPearTree Fri 15-Feb-13 06:11:39

I'm having really painful short contractions but got sent home from hospital! Argh. Not slept and no chance of sleeping.

AmandaCooper Fri 15-Feb-13 06:27:36

<Delurks, even though I still have over a week to go> What did they say at the hospital?

NAR4 Fri 15-Feb-13 08:46:27

Sorry your sweep didn't work Lime and although an induction is disappointing I have to admit still feeling rather jealous you are going in today. Hope all goes well and looking forward to the birth announcement.

How are you Cupcake? Don't feel too disappointed. All my labours stayed at 2cm for most of the time and didn't seem to progress, other than get more painful, then suddenly I fully dilate and need to push. Maybe you are just doing the same. Either way I hope you now have your baby and will let us know when you can.

ImGoingToCountToThree Fri 15-Feb-13 10:06:45

Hello everyone. Just a update. Gave birth to a beautiful little girl yesterday after an induction. 11.30pm first real contraction born at 2.15am.
We are all thrilled grin

Cupcakemummy85 Fri 15-Feb-13 12:42:28

Well snap I'mgoimgtocounttothree, massive congrats. My dd was born yesterday after contractions became regular got to the hospital after umming and arrging about it for ages and was 6cm and am hour later my waters exploded all over the midwife and dd was born lol. I really hope everyone's sweeps, inductions etc work and u all have quick labours and healthy babies smile

bangersmashandbeans Fri 15-Feb-13 12:56:12

Huge congrats to both of you!

NAR4 Fri 15-Feb-13 12:59:08

Congratulations ImGoingtoCount and Cupcake.

GreenOlives Fri 15-Feb-13 14:24:07

Congratulations to count and cupcake! Lovely news! grin

Saw the doc today about Percy and friends - she was very sympathetic but didn't prescribe me anything new, she just told me to continue with the 1% hydrocortisone sad I thought Id pooed myself during the night but turns out it was another sibling for Percy squeezing out! shock I forgot how glamorous this pregnancy lark is!! grin

CackleALot Fri 15-Feb-13 21:20:58

Congrats I'mgoing & Cupcake! grin

PickledInAPearTree Fri 15-Feb-13 21:39:40

Green Barry feels so so much better today. I'm not brave enough to look at my fanjo yet but he dosent hurt at all!

PickledInAPearTree Fri 15-Feb-13 21:39:40

Green Barry feels so so much better today. I'm not brave enough to look at my fanjo yet but he dosent hurt at all!

PickledInAPearTree Fri 15-Feb-13 21:40:54

Oh lovely news as well cup cake & three grin

GreenOlives Sat 16-Feb-13 07:56:33

Glad Barry is so much better pickled! grin But im confused - have you had the baby yet?!

AmandaCooper Sat 16-Feb-13 08:39:08

Greenolives I was going to ask the exact same thing!

ImGoingToCountToThree Sat 16-Feb-13 12:51:35

Congratulations cupcake!! The same day for us and DD's. Hope your settling in well.
All the best to the rest of you waiting ladies. Hope you have speedy safe deliveries smile

NAR4 Sat 16-Feb-13 15:02:01

Hope Limeleaf has her baby. Just popped on quick to check if there had been a birth announcement.

Meamomma Sat 16-Feb-13 18:56:04

Me too!! I'm 38.3 weeks with 2nd child and getting very fed up. Had a few aches and pains (but have bad pelvic girdle pain so hard to know what's what). Seeing midwife on wed and think I will ask for a sweep on due date if nothing happens before then, I went 6 days over with 1st and it felt like a very long time!

Got a blinking horrid cold too, grrrrrrrrrrrrr!

PickledInAPearTree Sun 17-Feb-13 01:24:55

Sorry! Yes had a little boy Friday morning. It was all a bit hairy they told me I was being a wuss at 5.30 am and sent me home. I stayed at home as long as I could bear it, went back in at 8.50 and he was born 6 mins later. I barely had time to get in.

Not what I expected!

I have looked today, Barry is there but without the pressure he is not hurting at all , unless its just number by all the palaver!

toomuchribbon Sun 17-Feb-13 01:26:44

Congratulations I'mgoing and Cupcake, wonderful news!

Glad you are feeling better Pickled, Barries are the worst aren't they.

I should probably join you all - am 40+9 with my first DC and feeling very impatient!

After a week of cramps on and off and 3 sweeps, at the last of which on Friday the MW said I am 3cm dilated with bulging membranes and a mid and soft but still quite thick cervix (scan said 1.5cm) I was left feeling pretty fed up so spent today doing bouncing on the ball (uh a stupid 3 hours), sex, consuming a great deal of pineapple and going for a waddle walk.  I have felt nothing all day and am now having waves of cramps and contractions - but it is hard to differentiate between the two.
They are regular but not like clockwork - approx 4 an hour.

There are distinct contractions but between them there are still cramps - the discomfort and tightness dials down but doesn't disappear so am a bit confused.

Have had bloody show(s) all week but that's normal after a sweep I believe... Waters not broken yet!

Both contractions and cramps are uncomfortable and definitely slightly painful but not as bad as I had anticipated nor getting worse - so assume it is some sort of pre-labour and I just need to be patient a while longer!?

toomuchribbon Sun 17-Feb-13 01:28:29

Oh huge congratulations Pickled, just cross-posted - that's fantastic, well done on your gorgeous new DS!

GreenOlives Sun 17-Feb-13 07:40:04

Pickled That's great news, congratulations! thanks grin And glad to hear that Barry is behaving too! wink Can't believe how close you were to delivering at home/in the car - that really was cutting it fine!

Ribbon Sounds to me like things are gearing up, im sure it won't be long now!

Im excited about having my first sweep tomorrow [saddo emotion] I so hope it does something useful! Im spending most of the weekend batch cooking so the freezer is full of home cooked food ready for when little one puts in an appearance!

NAR4 Sun 17-Feb-13 11:42:22

Congratulations Pickled.

Sounds like you will be in established labour soon Ribbon.

clarelou13 Sun 17-Feb-13 14:51:36

Congratulations Pickled and Cupcake
Still waiting here, had mild contractions all friday night and yesterday, woke up this morning thinking today will be the day and.... Nothing!! Not even a single cramp sad Seeing the midwife on Tuesday so think I will ask for a sweep.
Going to go climb on my space hopper (birthing ball replacement) for a bounce now.

CackleALot Sun 17-Feb-13 15:43:02

Congratulations pickled! thanks

Good luck Ribbon, hope things start moving faster for you soon.

39 weeks today...all quiet. Due to see consultant a week tomorrow re plans for elcs if no vbac before. Not due to see MW again, but wondering if I should ask to see her this week as baby was lying oblique last week, thinking I'd like her to check baby's position to see if he/she has moved?

I wonder who will be next! grin

mmmmsleep Sun 17-Feb-13 23:07:46

Congratulations pickled!
Nothing here except the endless runs of braxton hicks...although on a positive note the house has never been so clean and the charity shop is getting a load tomorrow after some high energy nesting. My poor toddler is now very good at helping mummy clean. So grateful that he still has pm naps though...don't feel i could do without them!
Got tested for gbs privately using the more sensitive test than we get on nhs and got text today that all clear...means i will have to do battle as hospital policy will want me to have antibiotics in this labour as was positive last time but won't be now i know all clear and read gbs website info.quite a relief after problems we had last time due to lots of antibiotics.

Good luck to all you ladies in waiting...hope for lots more lovely quick births very soon

LimeLeafLizard Mon 18-Feb-13 10:22:22

Just a quick update... DD arrived on Saturday lunchtime. I was induced on Friday and was a little slow to get going but very fast once it did, and ended in a waterbirth which was a first for me.

She's lovely! But I had forgotten how I'd feel afterwards! (like I've been in a fight!)

Congratulations to Pickled and Count and cupcake and anyone else I've missed! Lots of babies now...

hope those of you still waiting have your lovely little ones very soon.
NAR good luck... do you have IOL date booked?

GreenOlives Mon 18-Feb-13 11:24:27

Congratulations LLL! grin I didn't realise you'd be able to have a water birth with induction as I know they love to monitor when inducing! Enjoy DD and I hope the feeling of being in a fight wears off quickly! grin
Im just waiting for the midwife to call for my first stretch and sweep! Could be a long wait as she couldn't give me a time so could be anytime between 9-5!

bopfactory Mon 18-Feb-13 11:34:17

Hello all, a quick update - never made my sweep appointment on Friday morning as DD arrived at 1.38am after a pretty short straightforward labour! Was fully expecting a boy so still slightly in shock! But couldn't be happier, we have two of each now so I feel very clever smile
Good luck everyone who's still waiting and congratulations to those who are already snuggling their newborns!
x

Congrats LLL and bop! Glad all is well. I'm 9 days in and still feel like I've been in a fight/hit by a train! Just trying to make it through the first two weeks and hope I start to feel more normal and can cry a little less!! Come and join us in the feb post natal group once you've all had your babies! There's only a few of us there as most are on Facebook so it's quite easy to keep track of which is nice!

Congratulations Bop and LLL! thanks

I'm having an uncomfortable day today - not able to walk very far and bump feels unusually heavy. Getting aches below bump and in lower back but not sure if due to trapped wind blush spd , piles or is this early labour?

I haven't had show yet and no sign of waters. With DS I had no warning - he came 5 days early, waters broke unexpectedly then contractions started straight after, no show with him either

Fingers crossed for you Cackle! Keep us posted!

Congrastulations Limeleaf and bop. Nice to hear you got the water birth Lime despite being induced.

No induction booked for me yet, will be booked in tomorrow morning and will be trying a 2nd sweep.

Went on a 4 hour clothes shopping trip with my DCs yesterday (they keep growing sooooo fast) and had hoped that might do something. It did, it wore me out!

So much for my midwife saying she thought I would have the baby in the next couple of days (last Thursday). Should know better by now.

I started a thread about this on pregnancy, not realising this one was here.

Congratulations Limeleaf, I remember you from my ttc thread! grin

I'm due Thursday and after feeling great for the past few weeks, the past two nights I've found I'm very uncomfortable from about nine onwards, really bad backache, strong period type pain/ braxton hicks and sharp pains where it feels like the little one is twanging my insides/ trying to scratch their way out! This all disappears by the morning when I generally feel grand again!

It's half term so trying to just enjoy time with dc1 and not do too much each day as don't want to be exhausted if labour starts late at night (as did with dc1).
