A pre-labour question...

As some of you know from my posts I am 41 weeks now and fed up hoping to avoid induction! Not felt any 'signs' (1st baby so not exactly sure what I'm waiting for!) e.g no BH's or anything. Have had 2 sweeps and a LOT of show. Apparently cervux is soft and 70% effaced (sorry for TMI )

Anyway just wondered if anyone went into labour spontaneously without any 'signs' it was going to happen??

Yeah I did, just woke up in the middle of the night, thinking crikey I need the loo, only once I'd been I still felt like there was something wrong, then it dawned on me, I was having contractions every 15 mins
I did speak to one friend afterwards, who said when she'd seen me in the afternoon the day before, that my palour had changed and she thought I wouldn't be long?
Although the thing I remember most, is that I'd felt full after tea, and unusually for me, declinded pudding! (probably a good thing, as I spent my whole labour throwing up!)

Yes, with all but the first, and the last. My waters broke, with the first, and I had to be induced the last time. The other labours all just started with the first pain.

My experience was different as at 42 weeks my waters were broken, but my friend was pottering about one Sunday morning and thought "oh gosh, crikey moses (etc etc) I really need a poo NOW, and gave birth on the toilet a short time later. Ho hum. Bet its a boy you're carrying!

I did. I was ten days overdue and had never felt any bh. It all felt like a cruel joke and couldn't imagine that I'd ever actually have a baby and would be pregnant forever.

Anyway, in the end I had a show at 6pm and a baby by 1am. Once it started it all happened very quickly.

The waiting is the worst part. Hope you're not waiting too much longer.

Hello, This is my first post on Mumsnet
My waters broke at 42+2 (!), and I went into labour 16 hours later. I'd had very faint BH, and a sweep at 41+6. The midwife who did the sweep said there were no signs of effacement or anything, but my baby was engaged. I was VERY uptight about going overdue and did not want to be induced. It got worse as the days went by and I was put under more and more pressure from the midwives. I kept putting the date back a few days, knowing that 42 weeks was not abnormal. Glad I stuck it out though. The midwife who delivered Oscar said my placenta was very healthy, "lovely, bright red colour" and not at all postmature. Try to relax and don't let anyone bully you!

Thanks everyone. Welcome HannahMoomin (feel privileged to be your first post!)Fingers crossed something happenes soon cos although I really don't want to be induced the temptation of going in knowing I'll be coming out with a baby is right now more attractive than this WAITING!!

They did pick up BHs on the monitor today but I couldn't feel a thing! Will keep u posted x
