my contractions were still 10 mins apart when i was ready for the second stage of labour.i put this down to drinking loads of rlt in the last month.this idea was more or less laughed at even though the timing of my contractions so far apart so far down the line was apparently unheard of!?
i already knew that rlt works amazingly for period pains.(once i experienced the effects i got over the taste)or take tablets
has anyone else tried rlt .if so did it work for u or not?

I drank loads of the stuff for the last 6 weeks with dd. I was overdue with ds and was determined not to go there again. DD was a day late and the labour was quicker than ds but alot more painful. Makes toes curl just remembering. I was about 2 cms dialated and was having contractions every 2-3 minutes.
I wouldn't bother with RLT again but I know alot of people do swear by it.

Hi jenz, I am a complementary therpist so I am a bit biased, and I have only given birth once so I can't really say whether it made the pain worse or not.

However, I was only in labour for 4 hours which was good as I hadn't slept much for three weeks before because of a chest infection. The pain was horrendous though.

I woke up in constant excruciating pain at 1 in the morning, the day after I was due. I had wanted a home birth but wasn't allowed as it was my first pregnancy, but I nearly ended up having one in the end because the midwives said I couldn't be in labour!

I knew it was the real thing even though I hadn't been through it before and it wasn't how I expected it to be. When I rang the hospital and said I was in constant pain, they said labour pain wasn't contstant. They said it must be constipation and I should take a warm bath or paracetamol; if it was labour there would be several minutes in between!

As there were no gaps between the pain, it was really hard to cope with but I am sure the speed at which it happened, although most of those four hours were pushing, was down to the raspberry leaf tea.

I did also take the homeopathic remedy caullophyllum for the last three weeks as well though.

No sorry jenz, I can't say I've ever heard about the cracking noise

Jenz!! The though of the 'cracking' makes me shudder!!!!

I drank RLT whilst in hospital with high BP. I drank 3 cups between 8pm and 10pm,(which I had to hide from the midwives!!) my waters broke at 3am!! I went into 'established' labour very quickly and withing an hour of strong-ish contractions I was 4 cm dilated! Ds was born 4 hours later and 5 days early!! WAHEY FOR RASPBERRY TEA!

I've always heard, everywhere else, that raspberry leaf tea speeds up labour, not lead to long-length contractions.

No cracking here, either!

I took the capsules for what was supposed to be the last 6 weeks. Dd was born 4 days early and ds 10 days early. I'm not sure if that is because of the RLT or because they were just read yto come, at 9lb12 and 9lb3 they were certainly big enough and I am very glad they came early!

I woke up at around 5am on the day I went into labour with dd, and felt a kind of bang/crack feeling - that must have been it! After that, had no real gentle build up though, went pretty much straight into contractions 2-3 mins apart! And that continued for much of the day!

Where can you get the rlt tablets from?

Report
jenz · 14/04/2003 13:39

buy rl tea or tabs's from your local health food store or herbalists.ask the advice of your midwife before you take them they are only meant to be taken in the last stage of pregnancy,i think its about the last 6 weeks.

I took RLT tablets in the last few weeks. DS was a week late and I never fully dilated despite being induced part-way through and ended up with a c-section.

Can anyone tell me the recommended dose for the raspberry leaf tablets?

Thanks

Rebecca!

I think its two tablet every day from about week 33. My children were both late but rapid labour so perhaps it worked. Can't hurt anyway. DOn't drink the tea though - its gross!!!

Don't know much about the tablets but i drank loads of the tea from 36 weeks onwards (holding my nose to do so). First labour took a while to get going but once i got to 3cm i went to fully dilated in just minutes and the second labour was only 2 hours so who knows it may well work. Have you tried searching on the web? maybe the company have a website (sorry if this seems like stating the obvious and you've already done it)

I got my RLT tablets from Holland & Barrett health shop. Took it as stated from 33 weeks but didn't work at all. DD was 2 weeks late, I only got to 3 cm dilated despite 2 days of induction, and ended up with emergency c-section!

I hate fruit teas so took the Rasperry Leaf tablets, but only for week before due date. I dilated quickly and ds was born on his due date with seconds to spare!
