Do our dress sizes relate in any way to length of labour?

the height thread has got me thinking. I got fat durring pregnancy and had a much easier labour compared to my skinny friends!I was a size 14 pre pregnancy, 16-18 by the end and my labour lasted about 5 hours on gas and air. what about everyone else?

No - I'm a size 8-10. First labour 12 hours (slow towards the end, so ventouse), and second was about 5 hours. Both were just on gas and air

In France there is a saying : 2 pounds over what you should have gained during pregnancy equals 1 hour of labour more...my bloody mum told it to DH who kept referring to this non sense !

I am due in 7 days and was size 14-16 before and stayed the same in maternity clothes (I've put on 2 stones) ...I'll tell you then !!

I was size 10 pre-preg and a size 14/16 post preg with dd and had a massive labour

I don't think so if heavier means easier, quicker birth.

DS1 was induced so can't really judge from that one but ds2 labour was about 5 hours start to finish and only really unbearable for the last few minutes (had about 3 puffs of G&A only). DS3 labour was about 3 hours start to finish with again, just a bit of G&A.

I'm a size 10 - was before births and am after births and didn't put on loads of weight in pg either.

14 Prepregnancy, 20kg fatter by the end of it. 27 hours long labour even when drip was used half way to speed it up, so... no joy in being fat

PS. What height thread??? I am very interested in having a look at it

With dd I was a size 12 labour was 14 hours, epidural, threat of forceps.

ds1 I got massive and he took 7 hours.

ds2 I was still quite big probably a 14 at the start and he took 44 minutes from 3cm dilated to being born.

ds3 I was a size 12 again but 2 stone heavier, labour with him was 3 hours satrt to finish.

ds4 I was a 12-14 labour was induced so can't really compare but was still quick at 7 hours total.

Maybe things just speed up the more babies you have rather than anything to do with your size?
