I'm ashamed to say that I've just shouted and frightened my little girl (2.5 yrs) as she wouldn't stay in bed for her nap. Bloody hell that sounds even worse written down. I know though that if she doesn't nap for at least a little while it'll be a nightmare this afternoon and I'll really struggle to cope (exhausted 36 wks pregnant with SPD).

I know she's tired but she won't stay in bed - I try reading (lots) to her but she just keeps wanting yet another book. If I keep her up I run out of things to entertain her with (she doesn't watch much tv and we don't have cbeebies etc anyway). I can't go for a walk or get down on the floor and play because of the spd.

That's no excuse though so I really need some coping strategies to deal with this next time as I don't want to go down this route of shouting at her all the time - my parents did this and I remember how awful it was and how frightened we were of them.

How do/would you deal with this kind of thing please?

sorry, please ignore as I've just realised I posted this in the wrong section (should have been parenting!)

Emphasis: To bold a word, surround it with asterisks, so *hello* will display hello. For underline use _ , so _hello_ gives hello. For italics use ^, so ^hello^ gives hello. To strike out a word, surround it with two hyphens either side, so --dog-- gives dog

Links and smileys: To insert a smiley face, , type [smile] or :)
For a big grin, , type [grin] or :o
For a wink, , type [wink]
For a shocked face, , type [shock]
For an angry face, , type [angry]
For an embarrassed face, , type [blush]
For a sad face, , type [sad] or :(
For an envious face, , type [envy]
For a sceptical face, , type [hmm]

Links The simplest way to insert a link is to enter the link itself, surrounded by [[ and ]]. So if you type [[www.mumsnet.com]], the link will display as http://www.mumsnet.com. If you want your link to display text other than the web address itself, leave a space after the address then add the text before the ]]. So "Look at [[www.mumsnet.com this page]]", would display "Look at this page".
