Hi girls,

I lost my plug about an hour ago, and am having irregular contractions now.

I was wondering, those of us who have had kids before, how long was it between a lost plug and labour?

I've been reading up online and apparently it can takes weeks, but I'm wondering if coupled with the irregular contractions that will be the case.

Thanks

WIth dd I was induced and it came out in one big bloody blob about an hour before my waters broke and contractions really picked up the pace- maybe when I was about 3 cm?
With ds I started losing bits of clear blobby bits, got in the bath and waters broke (not spectacuarly but more of a gradual trickle) when I got out, contractions started immediately and he was born 3.5 hours later! BUT shows can happen weeks before anything gets going. Good luck!

Thanks littlelamb. I'm 37 weeks today (due 12.12), but had a growth scan this week where due to the size and position of the baby they wrote down my EDD as the 27th Nov. Bit all over the place really!

I was having contractions before plug came away. I think, was in hospital and was 4cm.
My friend lost hers about a week before.
When my contractions started, they were every 6 minues from 5am friday, slowed downn at lunch time, went to hospital in evening, was told at 11pm I wasn't in labour, lost plug at 4am saturday and ds was born at 11:30

I found my show when I was in the hospital waiting room toilets, already having had contractions for about 3hrs. I was examined shortly afterwards and was 4cms.

Good luck if you are kicking off!

went in to the hospital to get looked at today. Plug is definitely gone, but waters are still intact.

I was hooked up to a CTG machine where at rest I was measuring 1-5 and I was having irregular contractions that would register about 70 but they weren't painful, more like period type cramps.

LO is fully engaged too so I guess we're just playing the waiting game!

About a minute!

Erm - Show and water broke together at 11.30pm, contractions started midnight [- -15 min apart, 2 min apart by 5.30am , DS born by emergency c section (Undiagnosed footling breech) at 6.30am, but I was 8cm dilated, so it would only have been a couple of hours or so without the CS.

Thanks for the posts girls.

I am still here! Baby hasn't made an appearance yet even though I lost my plug two weeks ago now. I've been quite poorly since too. Lots of pain but it never turns into anything. Ho hun!

bloody show- baby= 3 days for me, lots of pre-labour pains though.
On day of actual labour all the work had been done and I gave birth in 2.5 hours from start to finish.

Those pains will be doing something and no doubt when you do labour for real it will be fast.

Good luck!
