Lister Hospital Stevenage - Water Pool Birth?

Hi Everyone - hoping someone might have had an experience of taking thier own birth pool to the Lister (or any other hospital for that matter) and might be able to give any tips oor advice? The Lister doesn't have its own pools so you have to take your own.

I would be very grateful to hear of any experiences of this. I am concerned that the hospital team may view bringing a pool in as more hassle for them?

some of the delivery rooms at at the lister arent very big.

i am in the local area, and just had a home birth yesterday with the community midwives, and it was very positive and relaxing.

Hi Misdee

Thanks for your response. That was quick! The idea is that there is one big room (usually used for twins) that will accommodate a birth pool so they use that one. This is my 1st time so the idea is to be at the hospital but to have the advantage of a water birth. You sound like the expert - you've given birth yesterday and are posting on the net today! Wow!

Hi Freestyle - also in Lister area but planning a homebirth (with water). Midwives round here very supportive. I had my first at home (different area) too ..
Good to hear that they will let you take a pool in anyway

congrats misdee :-)

Thanks Freestlye - would be interested to hear how you found the Lister anyway - assume you looked round? Just in case I do end up in there, as I have never been to the maternity unit?
When are you due?
