I have heard women said they were having period-like pains for very early contractions.. but other women seem to have back pains?

I'm confused.. do you have both, or just one type of pain (back or period) when the contractions start?

Also, if i've had 2-3 pains like the period ones yesterday does that mean my body is begin to start something??? (almost 40wks)

You may well be getting closer to labour

I think it will be different for everyone - some women may only get back ache, some may only get period pains, some may get both, and for some (like me) back ache is how my periods normaly start...

Fingers crossed things go smoothly for you

It could be that something's starting but the trouble is with noticing it early is you might be there for days with just aches and grumblings before it all kicks off (I had period pains and aches and tightenings from the monday, had baby on thursday)and all the waiting gets very frustrating and tiring.

Try to ignore it for now and get on with things. When it is real labour it will get more insistant and you won't be able to ignore it as easily! Hope it all goes smoothly for you and doesn't last as long as mine did.

That's very true, actually, I'd had fairly strong and frequent BHs for a couple of weeks, and had a continual bloody show for about 6 days before the back ache came - but once it did DD arrived 7 hours later.

Rest as much as you can - even if labour is straightforward, a newborn is exhausting!
