Childbirth

Did anyone have any "intuition" about when they were going to give birth?

Last pregnancy I was determined DS was going to be a week early and everyone just laughed or dismissed it as it was my first baby. I went into labour exactly a week early lol. I also knew he was a boy and guessed his exact weight lol.

This time around I am really nervous - keep thinking baby isnt going to hold in there for much longer, dont want to take my raspberry leaf tea or do anything that is associated with bringing baby on. I keep alternating between the idea that women know their bodies better than anyone and just thinking its paranoia about baby being ok. Even though I am having a hellish pregnancy I still want them to hang in there til close to due date.

Its not really a huge issue now - im 34 weeks and realise baby has a great chance of being healthy if born over the next few weeks - but i just cant shake the nagging thoughts.

Anyone else predicted when they were going to give birth? I know no one wants to go over due lol so theres lots of positive thinking going on but what were your experiences?

I knew ds2 was going to be a little early and he was (39+4). I was induced at 38 weeks with ds1 and I was so sure that because ds2's birth was good at 38 weeks that ds1 would be before dates. No I'm thinking that dc3 will also be early.

Actually I did want DS to be late - I had a terrible cold when I was 40 weeks and I really didn't think I could cope with labour feeling as ill as I did. So I told him that I would prefer it if he hung on a bit longer and he did. A bit too long - 41 + 6 so only just escaped induction - but how was he supposed to know?! Have a feeling this one is going to be early though, will see.

I didn't have any intuition at all about when I was going to give birth.

I know someone convinced she would give birth a week early, she told everyone she would do, and she got quite a shock when she reached her due date without going into labour.

Think it might be wishful thinking on most parts and sheer luck in others! I'm convinced I will go early (but not until we have the nursery sorted and pram bought of course!)

i was actually building the cot when i went into labour.

Ds1 was 10 days early and had no idea I would go into labour.

With Ds2 the in- laws decided to stay for a week just before his due date. I wasn't impressed but just told baby that I didn't want him to arrive. 1 day after they left I went into labour. I don't know if it was intuition but I was mightily relieved.

I knew both my DS's were going to be early! I knew DS1 would be 2wks early and i knew DS2 would be 3wks early!

However....
DS1 was 2days late
DS2 was a full week late

maybe it was just more of wishful thinking than anything else!!!

Yes, but I was wrong both times.

W. ds1 I was convinced I was going to be 10 days overdue - so much so that I'd arranged to go away for a few days. He was born on his due date.

W. ds2 I was literally sitting there on the evening of 'the day' with a puzzled frown thinking 'where's the baby?'

I don't usually do intuition - had no ideas if I was having a boy or girl, for instance. Does it still count as intuition if you are wrong?

I predicted to the the day when I would give birth to DD2. I was due the 29th Dec, and I knew she would arrive on christmas day. But no one would believe me!

I even arranged for a pseudo christmas day to take place on the 22nd do DD1 had a proper christmas day with us both and still my parents especially kept giving me kind looks like 'she is pregnant just indulge her'. Anyway, sure enough, called them over on christmas eve at 1920, into hospital was 6 cms dilated, had DD2 ar 0120 on christmas day morning.

Listen to your instincts for sure!!

I'm constantly repeating I will give birth in January and my die date is 13.02.23 but I'm 100% sure she will be here before February 🤷‍♀️
I'm more sure with every passing day ...

I had strong feelings DC1 was going to be born a week late, and DC2 4 days late. As it happens that meant they would be born early the next month after their due date.

Never got the chance to find out. Developed pre-eclampsia both times, so early inductions for both it was. They were born 20 and 15 days early respectively.

I kind of thought my first will be over term and it was. Had to be induced.

im thinking the 2nd will be too, but I hope I’m wrong!

I took lots of raspberry leaf tea the first time, and it didn’t do anything. But when they induced me I reacted to it very quickly, within 30mins I was in pain, while the other women, all of them ,were still being induced 2 days later!

it was a horrible experience, nobody believed I was even having pain this early, and I wonder if it wasn’t because of the tea! I won’t be touching it this time.
