When to start filling birthing pool up???

Been having contractions since 3am and hoping this is proper labour but I read stories on here where people have had false alarms so who knows.

I'm just wondering when to set up birthing pool? It's probably going to take a while to fill (not tested it) but don't want to do it then be let down by it all stopping.

Whose used one? Any idea's?

good luck!

you can start filling it now, fill it about half way, then put the heat retaining cover thing on until later. will give you something to do/think about for now, then top it up when things get going a bit more?

also, you could get in it anyway and worry about all those little creases in the liner - that will take your mind off things

no rules - you can get in and out as often as you like anyway.

good luck again!

sounds like a plan i take it this liner can't be reused should i be unlucky enough to be in for a long labour again?

it's not meant to be reused but i think in the instructions somewhere it says that the water can stay in for something like 24 hours?
and if it's still the same labour & same person (ie you) then i would think you could empty the whole thing and refill if it goes past that??? not sure tho
it won't tho i hope for your sake!

how far apart are the cx?
are you timing them?

Just posted on your other thread. I don't think they take that long to fill. Depends how much hot water is in your tank though.

oh yes get your hot water on full-time/24hrs however it works.
and find some big saucepans for warming up a bit extra...

Thanks. It was just short of 12 hours this time and had to wait until about 4cms til I got in the pool otherwise they slow them down, which they did for a bit. BUT, was good to be in when I was. DS1 also loved splashing around in it after

Off to bed now, afterpains have started and I'm bloomin knackered lol.
