Who had a C section?

I had a C section last week and I have dissolvable sutures rather than stitches.

My consultant told me to stick to showers, which I have, and the scar is lovely (as much as a scar can be - I have no complaints! )

But, I'm desperate for a bath!!!

I don't think my consultant meant for me to only have showers for the next 6 weeks (until my check up) but he didn't actually specify a timescale and I didn't ask.

How long did you wait before a lovely long soak?

i think they say showers rther than baths to avoid infection obviously in a bath the water is on ll parts of your body t the same time whilst a shower rinses you down ......ive had 3 c sections (not all at the same time lol)and bathed in salt/baby bath bubbles almost as soon as.
Imo i think youre ok but can you call your midwife and ask her??

Thanks WGT...

I could call the midwife and I do have a mobile number for my consultant too - but it's too petty to call on a bank holiday weekend IMO...

the midwife is coming on Tuesday so I think I'll wait until then.

thanks!

I don't remember being advised to stick to showers after either section - in fact i'm sure midwife suggested salt water baths as my scar was a little infected. I'd go ahead if i were you - nothing more relaxing than a soak in the tub which is probably more important right now! Congratulations by the way!

i cant see they will dissolve that easy a shower is water just the same isnt it??

be careful about smellies my usual bubble bath irritated the new skin on my scar stick to baby bath its non irritant and dry your scar gently but thoroughly....

I had a c - section n November and I wasn't told not to take baths.

Just take it easy getting in and out of the bath.

I had stitches, but they were taken out on day 5 anyway so even if your sutures dissolve I can't see it being an issue.

I had dissolving stitches & had baths as soon as I got home from hospital.

I had c section too and I used lavender oil in the bath which helped the scar heal quicker.

I only have a bath! and hate showers. I had them in hospital for a few days, then used to lie down and arch my back a bit to lift the scar out - as I still had an enormous pot belly, there wasn't really much back-arching, just natural belly-arching. I wasn't told to avoid baths, but was sort of nervous about soaking it.

I had a bath on day five as soon as my stitches were out. It was wonderful!.
