just in case any1 i spoke to during last 2 weeks is interested, Tristan was born 11am Monday weighing in at 12lb 5 oz!!!!! vaginal birth 3 stitches!! told you all I was hard core!!!
Wow! Congratulations. Bet you're soooo proud of your amazing little boy (and yourself!). Did you have all the midwives trecking round to your bed for a look at him?
Wow, there was a woman on Montel this morning, showing off she had a 12lb 5oz baby by c section, shes got nothing on you. Well done you, very impressed!
I can remember explaining to my daughter how it was giving birth. I explained that it was trying to get something the size of a melon out of something the size of a lemon. We both had a good laugh but you have done more than that. I am so impressed - many many congratulations. You must be very proud.
Thanks everyone, I feel a bit guilty cos it really wasn't so bad!! I feel fine already, more probs from muscle damage from his size than the actual delivery!! And carrying him must have been a good work out as I am now only 2 lbs heavier than when I got pregnant!
So here is the thread that I trawled for when I found out about my big baby, TO ALL YOU NERVOUS CARRIERS OF BIG BABIES, KEEP FIT AND DON'T WORRY, IT WAS EASY!!! (only took 5 hrs, I only had gas and air and he was posterior until 30 mins before he crowned! either my pelvis and fanjo are super stretchy or I was just born to give birth!!! ha ha I am so proud of myself!!!
i wanted 2 more!!! perhaps just the one now!! My excellent amazing midwife said she'd book me in for two yrs time, we're going to aim for a 15lber!! ha ha .
I can honestly say that Frimley Park Hospital Surrey has the absolute best of the best community midwife team. The supervisor made a point of delivering my baby personally as I was upset about being induced after going to 42 weeks and opting out of a home delivery due to ma hoosive baby!! Didn't bloody believe them! doh!
Oh and also must say, get yourselves an amazing birthing partner!! my DP was so amazing, I cry thinking about him!!
Congratulations nosnik! What a whopper! I just hope that my LO (who has decided to stay with me till 42 weeks) isn't that big - I think I'm not as hardcore as you!
nosnik- I had two of mine under the care of the Frimley Park community midwife team. They;re all fab, aren't they? My daughters were both delivered at home by Marie Richardson on her days off- she insisted on doing them since she'd been my midwife throughout.
ps; bloody US technician at Frimley Park didn't get second daughter's weight right though... Caused me to have to go into antenatal clinic every two weeks from 20 weeks onwards, the undertrained swine. And they were still over 2 lbs out in estimating her weight at 40 weeks..
My god.....I thought the fact I pushed out my daughter at 10lbs 8oz was huge with only a small tear an no need for stitches was impressive!! What a woman!
Tip of the week!! Don't try bf on its own with a 12 + pounder, its futile, and you will never sleep!!! I'm shattered!! 2 oz of formula at 12:30pm.........ahhh peace at last!!!
1. I am feeling crap and I wanted to re-read it to cheer me up, though someone else might say something nice!!
2. because I trawled this site when I was pregnant to find big baby stories cos I was TERRIFIED after being warned I would have a 10 lber!! So this post might cheer someone else up.
3. Because I wanted to give an update on Tristan's size, he is now 7 months and 22lbs!!!!!!! LOL
I think its great that you had a big baby naturally And only 3 stitches, my dd was 7lb 1oz and I had loads of stiches! He seems to be doing really well.
Can I ask if you have other children and what weights they were?
oops sorry, just realised its an old thread that you've come back to.
Sorry you're feeling a bit crap at the moment. It sounds like you need a bit of a boost. Its quite common to have phases of feeling a bit flat but it should pass.
Arrange to do something nice next week (with a friend or DH/DP, with or withot DC) but make sure its a treat.
I was fine justnobody, just 3 stitches and I couldn't wee for about 3 hours! My hips were a bit dodgy cos they had to ram my legs back to un stick his shoulders!! Lucky I'm bendy!
Thank you everyone. I also hope this message reaches someone else who is panicking about a 'biggy'. It is possible xxx I have to go to bed now, I'll probably be up again in an hour!
My little son is the same age as yours he was only 9lbs, a tiddler compared with your little Tristan. He also is hungry and doesn't sleep much during the day or night.
I feel bad sometimes, tired, and fed up of my messy house, especially now it's not so nice to get out and about.
I really hope you're OK. You did fab to have such a big baby yourself.
Nosnik, well done you girl! Makes my 10lb 6er look tiny but I have to add she was exc bf & slept through the night pretty early on so I guess it's geneitcs not birth size!
I can't comment on the birth as my dd was 7lb 12oz and born through the sun roof. She was, however, 23lb at 23 weeks so can sympathise on the hungry baby bit! It does slow down, dd 18 months now and only 33lb.
Jesus show!! 23 lbs at 23 weeks?? she started over 4lbs lighter than Tristan too, you must have been constantly feeding!! you poor thing! Tristan is in 9 to 12 month clothes already, some 12 - 18 months, has it been a problem for you, people buying stuff that doesn;'t fit?
hi nosnik, i first read this thread a few days before my dd was born, she was 8lb 8oz and that was big enough......she's 6.5months and 20lbs now tho seen your other thread...try and forget the biyatch...easier said than done though i know. keep your chin up xxxxxx
YIKES! Good on ya girl. Congratulations. I'm wincing for you. Take it easy while the tear heals won't you? I did all my wees in the bath at this stage and had glycerine suppositories to help with passing the other stuff.
Clothes have always been a problem. She's consistently in clothes that are at least 6 months older.
I must point out that she's not chubby either, just tall. She's over 3ft at 18 months so perfectly in proportion. Other children her age look tiny to me.
bloody hell! my whopper was 10lb 8oz and i wanted a shiny crown and a round of applause everytime i walked in to a room for about a month afterwards. was he your first?
he was my second, but ds1 was an average 7lb 3oz and i struggled to get him out!
there aren't enough expletives in the world that would express my awe at that! (but inspiring to know its possible!) I was quite worried, being on the petite side, and DH being a 50inch chested, 6'2, 18 stone rugby player build, but so far the MWs think it is average sized. We should find out soon enough (two days overdue already)
Oooh nosnik WELL DONE!!! I can't believe you didn't receive more rapturous applause back in May. I just adore massive newborns. Did he have cheeeeeeks?
Maybe there's something in the Surrey water. DS was born at Frimley and he was (a mere) 10lb 9oz. I was ludicrously pleased with myself!
