Is it an elephant in here?

Okay, am now 40+3 and really thought I'd have a baby by now. Am seriously thinking I may have a baby elephant inside me. It's about an 18 month gestation period for elephants I think!!

Have had the so called pre-labour symptoms since week 36 and even the midwife thought it would all happen last weekend (it didn't). Have stomach ache from too much pineapple, a husband who feels like 'rent a cock' as my demands for sex have become excessive and I've walked up so many hills that I've practically got altitude sickness.

So, my new philosophy is to pretend I'm not pregnant anymore: wander around the shops, go out for lunch, go swimming (although it's hard to pretend your not pregnant in a bathing costume)and keep busy 'cos I'm totally sick of waiting for this bloody baby to make an appearance

Lol!!! Sounds like the best plan to me. That's the worst bit, the waiting at the end. Don't worry, in no time at all you won't even remember being pregnant or what it was like to have some "free time!"

Hope it happens soon for you xx

Pretend you are in France. The edd is at 41 weeks over there so your baby is not yet due.

catwoman - I am also 40+3 and totally grumpy, bored and fed up.

ashamed to say that I am missing being at work. I know I will look back longingly on this time but I was the same when waiting for DS to arrive - I just hate having nothing to do.

Glad I am not alone and am trying to console myself with the fact that big/overdue babies go longer bteween feeds and sleep better (according to - I can't remember who - but here's hoping)

I think I'll share your optimism on that one so long as it doesn't take after my DP when he was born - 13½lb

I was induced with DS at 14 days over and to be fair he was a good feeder right from the start

don't like induction so planning to delay it a bit this time - although depends how fed up I am by that point. Made the usual mistake of telling people my due date so now all the stupid questions have started

"oooo - haven't you had that baby yet?"

tempted to say something really rude in response but have resisted so far -

I was here two weeks ago, had DS by CS at 41weeks, anything you can do, do now.
Cook up food for the freezer, make sure your house is spotless and you have no washing, sleep!get a shop in, have your haircut, anything you could possibly need to do in the enxt few weeks, cos you wont have time soon.
Take pics of your bump, you'll miss it when it's gone, maybe a belly cast or some belly art or something.
Write a letter to your new baby and write another when it's born, jot down how you're feeling, read up on everythig you can, I'd suggest the whole www.kellymom.com website if you're planning on breastfeeding.
I'm sure there are more things I though afterwards I shouldve done, maybe others can help!

ooo thanks VS - I will set myself list of things to do tomorrow as I am much better when occupied

have already cleaned the house and have ordered loads of meat from butchers today to stock freezer. ironing is being collected tonight

tonight think I will model all my half-decent maternity clothes and get DH to take pics - ready to sell all on ebay as definitely not having anymore after this!
