Itching, itching, itching in a place you wouldnt want to tell your best friend/partner about!

Really hoping someone will be able to help as I have been suffering with this for a LONG time now. Had a baby a year ago and had bad tear which healed well. However, about 3 months afterwards the skin around my bottom started itching like mad, really red and sore and wanted to scratch myself to death- worse whhen walking.... Several gp visits later I have tried various creams, but none help!
Had a look yesterday and noticed the area where its sore and itchy has loads of what look like blisters. Got so desperate yesterday that I tried piercing with a needle.. stupid I know but at the end of my tether. Hasnt helped though!
I'm now worried that maybe theres something under the skin causing this, like stitches? Is it possible some of the stitches I had for my tear have somehow managed to 'travel' down to the bottom area.....
Have posted this in the health section but wondered if anyone had experience of this post pregnancy.

Could it be an allergic reaction to something new you are using? I once had an allergic reaction in the same area due to a new panty liner that I tried. The area swelled up and was very itchy. It stopped once I stopped using them.

ok not to tell your best friend or partner, and fine to tell us, but you really must tell your gp as soon as possible.

most likely it's something they have seen before (and in any case they get paid to look at people's weird ailments) and can be sorted relatively easily

Does it hurt when you poo = I had a tear in my bottom - a fissure and that and the resultant scar itches like mad! Didn't know I had it for a while after I had DS!

Genital herpes maybe? They can cause blisters?

I second the fissure suggestion. Really hard to see for yourself but the itch can drive you to distraction. Is it possible the blistery looking things are damgage cause by by scratching or piles?

And please god, remove the pin from your arse, that is bonkers just go to the Dr. It'll be much more embarassing going with infected pin pricks all round your bum

Hmm that area can get blistering when it's inflamed - really quite common. Perhaps the blood supply has been affected by scarring - this will make the skin very dry and then it will itch like buggery (oops bad choice of words in the circumstances ).

Go show your derriere to a GP - apparently they see an average of seven a day according to a fantastically funny survey I was reading the other day. So you will just be one of many don't worry.

Could be piles (poss internal)- they itch like mad sometimes - the blisters could be a secondary thing as a result of the creams and scratching.

You are only going to get it sorted by visiting the GP again - that said, best thing for piles by far is Preparation H and you can get that over the counter (helps if you haven't seen Austin Powers IME)

I've seen about 4 different gps and apart from prescribing me creams they seem completely clueless about what it is! I dont think its a fissure or piles because surely this would have been picked up? It doesnt hurt pooing but what causes the itching to reach manic levels is walking- guess its something to do with the skin rubbing against. You are all right though I do need do get it sorted and I think the sexual health clinic idea is probably the way forward, they may take me seriously... At least I hope they will! I am staying away from the pins though last night I had a wacky idea about using scissors to sort of slice through the blisters (this is how bad it was) but sensible realised what a stupid and pathetic idea that was- I'd probably just end up cutting through a vein or something and bleeding to death!

Hmm yes do go to the GUM clinic - but it could be that you need some steroid cream if you have very bad sensitivity or to see a dermatologist. At least the clinic will rule out any nasties. You sure they didn't leave any swabs in or anything when they stitched you back up?
