Cramps but no contractions - is it the start?

This feels like one of those am I/aren't I pregnant threads! but I was just wondering.

I am 41 weeks today. Baby's heads been engaged since 36 weeks. I had a sweep last Thurs which could have worked (but didn't ) as I was apparently effaced with a cervix of 1cm and 1cm dilated and things felt soft. I had a bit of a show after that and have had the old bit of gluey stuff but nothing pink or brown. Today I have had cramps like period pains all day but they are not accompanied by any contractions or any other "signs".

What do you reckon? worth getting excited about or should I still live in fear of the looming induction date?

Thanks for any advice at all

Oh I do hope this is it for you, it is horrible being overdue.

Have you done all the sex/nipple tweaking/clary sage/raspberry leaf tea/visualisation thing?

Oh how I love a labour thread

Hello Mrsmcjnr- sounds just like me although I ma thinking that as the cramps have a pattern and Ihave had a show this morning that it may be the rea,l thing, they are coming every 20 mins and lastin about 30-40 secs.. but never had contractions before so don't know whether I just had severe cramps.. my tum goes hard and then the pain washes over my stomach and then dies back down- I used to suffer with cronic period pain so I am in two minds whether they are the real thing or am I just notg doubled over because I havea good pain threshold- my fingers and toes are crossed for u!

I had a dream about MrsMc last night so I came on this morning and did a search on her name...in my dream she was very well dressed (in maternity clothes), absolutely radiant, and very happy. Her bump was only the size of a 4 months pregnancy.

Anyway, I wonder how she's doing, I hope it was a premonition that she went into labour last night and had her baby.

Thanks for all your posts ladies ? I am still here and still getting the same pains I?m seeing the Consultant tomorrow morning to discuss the procedure that I don?t want to think about ? induction hopefully she?ll try another sweep and these pains at the very least will be making me more susceptible to it working, fingers crossed.

Hey Cazzy where have you been? We have been missing you on the AN thread. There are still a few of us waiting to pop on there, come back ? hope the sweep works for you!

Bluebell ? sounding very exciting for you keep us posted.
