It is not recommended but I used clary sage oil when overdue, in the bath (at superstrength) on reflexology points and also in oil on my bump. Did nothing and it stinks.

Lavender oil is nicer in a bath and great for afterwards when you are healing.

I thought lavender was safe to use throughout pg so didn't think it was something to bring on contractions.

Not sure about clary sage.

That's what I believe lavender is safe throughout.

It's clary sage that is unsafe as it can bring on contractions (ha!) remember being 40 weeks pregnant, crippled with SPD, standing in Holland and Barratt the sales woman saying "I don't think you should buy this I really don't recommend it, it can start labour off" erm that was the whole point.

I know how desperate you will be feeling right now I tried everything and them some to try and kick things off, nothing worked, I gave up eating/doing anything at 10 days overdue and she finally made her appearance at 12 days overdue.

I think Lavender is safe too (am using it on my pillow at night to help me sleep!)

What about Rose oil - will that do anything?

I was told by midwife to put lavender oil on my pillow to help me sleep at night, so dont think that causes contractions.
