I have apt for induction on Fri at 40+11 and still am holding out for home birth. Had sweep last Thurs and she said cervix posterior which i aware of anyway as smears quite difficult. Although she said cervix very soft and i was 1-2 cm dilated. She was sure i wouldn't last until Fri. This is my 3rd dc and i was considering calling clinic to see if i could get another sweep tom in the hope of setting things off, is there any point ?

Thanks will make apt then and sound them out about maybe having bit longer before induction ?
I am sure i had show last Fri and have had cx although not strong with really painful period type cramps and pains, am sure things are soon going to happen although have felt like this since due date so beginning to doubt myself.

a soft cervix that is starting to dilate is really good.... you need to get busy with the sex and nipple stim.. and try to stay positive, read some ina may and remind yourself what you are aiming for.. x

Go for the 2nd sweep - last DC took 2 sweeps a week apart to get him moving.

The way I look at it, you've got nothing to lose (apart from the ouch factor) and it may get things moving so go for it.

Yes, definitely worth it! My sweep set it all off and every examination I had after that seemed to kick it ahead slightly. What have you got to lose?

just read last message good idea put some cushions under bum or squat to access cervix and have a rummage if that doesn't repel you too much! But only if sure waters intact.Oh and after your first delivery cervix always a bit open its called a multips os!
