Hurt my back and can't move very much - what happens if it all kicks off?!

If I was able to move, I'd kick myself! Have had a bad back for the last few days and can barely move. Thought it was all just og related but it's occurred to me that it's very tender to the touch and in one spot so, having not been well for a month with a vicious cough, it's more likely that I've pulled something coughing.

But I'm now worried that if anything happens (I'm 37 weeks) I won't be able to move off the sofa, never mind all the lovely things you're supposed to do during labour!

Not really looking for answers 'cos there aren't any, just wanted to start a 'woe is me' thread!

For starters, you probably won't go in to labour yet, if you do the best thing by far would be a birth pool. Epidural would be best avoided at all costs as it would mask pain potentially making your back much worse afterwards. Hope you get better soon.

Can you get to a Physio, they have magic fingers. Your GP may be able to get an urgent appointment or could be worth the money (£40-50). Not cheap - but money well spent. Have just triggered an old back injury and resorted to a Physio for 1st time in ages. Can still be a bit sore for a day or two afterwards, but today much much better. Also try a hot water bottle and Ibruprofen. Hope it gets better. Ooh forgot - ask physio about a back support belt. Large elastic belt you wear under your preggy tum, helps.
