Being nosey- did you scream or were you quiet when giving birth?

Just being nosey really. I imagine myself being really quiet but I know when I get there I'll probably be screaming my head off. Think it will shock DH! x

OMG I REALLY screamed, I felt it helped . Midwife repeatedly told me off and said I would regret it when my throat was all sore....she was right, I lost my voice..and I probably scared all the other women on the delivery suite in the process

I made a lot of noise, until the midwife gently pointed out that perhaps I should direct my energy elsewhere

Grunted quite a lot. Moaned too. Too knackered to scream.

And also a spot of mooing like a cow
Interspersed with a little light swearing

I was in competition with the woman in the room next to me. We never managed to synchronise our contractions so it seemed that there was always one or the other of us yelling.

I was very quiet. I have the vocabulary of a navvy normally, but I never swore once.

v. quiet - lots of breathing. blubbed like a baby when i was told i was about to have a section though!

During contractions it was more a low owwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww into a pillow.

During pushing stage agian it was a low deep noise.

Put it this way, my neighbour came round the next day with flowers and we hadn't actually told her!

Ditto to Huw...I asked DH about this the other night as i wasnt sure what i'd been like. He said i didnt have chance to amke much noise due to having the gas and air nozzle permanaently attached to me!!

Pretty noisy first time round, partly because I thought that yelling would help with the pushing. It doesn't.
Second and third children arrived with considerably less noise, probably because I was directing my energies elsewhere.

The midwives were very noisy and bossy though. (In the nicest possible way!)

completely utterly silent. dh said he knew that it hurt because i wasn't swearing. but i'd do it all again tomorrow, it was brilliant fun.

I think I swore alot, but only in a normal, well, slightly exorcist, type of tone. No loud yelling for me, it was far more sinister and threatening.

Screamed like hell with first one and called my mother(not dp even though he was there)every nasty name under the sun for telling me to try and be quieter.IT HURT FGS!
Second not so bad but went through lots of Gas and air so was high as a kite and sleepy

I went 'huuuuurgggghhhhh' in a low sort of tone as I was breathing out- I felt as if I was in a james Herriot episode. was the enormity of what was going on in my body - wasn't in pain, particularly.

I am quite mouthy normally so DH was expecting me to swear like a navvy but I said nothing and made no sound apart from grunting when pushing.

I'm not a loud person at all, i'm pretty quiet actually, but i SCREAMED my head off, and swore, and made noises i didn't know were possible. My midwife told me to keep the noise down (bitch)

Didn't scream, but wasn't silent.
Was told not to scream during pushing because it releases the pressure and stops the push from being so effective.
I think I was actually pretty quiet considering that I had NO PAIN RELIEF WHATSOEVER!!!

yes weird grunting noises that i've never done before or since and i kept asking if i could go home
