Lochia Question - DS3 2 weeks old tomorrow...............(TMI)

and my lochia seems to have got heavier again - hadn't (until now) passed any clots - but just been to the toilet and there was 2 quite big ones on my pad and when I wiped there were several smaller ones........is this normal I'm thinking not.

I am not sure if the lumps are normal or not, but beeing more active than usual can increase flow.

When you say 'big' how big do you mean? Bigger than a 50p piece? It can be quite normal to lose clots even after a couple of weeks - there's no hard-and-fast rule about postnatal loss.

Is it fresh-looking blood or do you think it's been there for a while, iyswim? Does it smell bad? Smelly loss and clots can be a sign of infection - have you felt feverish at all? Any pain?

Coleyboy is right - increased activity can also cause you to pass more and is a sign you should slow down a bit (easier said than done!)

looks like it's probably been there a while dark red/brown as opposed to bright red. didn't notice any smell and haven't felt feverish or had any pain. I have been more active though as DH went back to work on Monday and as he works 1pm-9pm I have the busy evening routine to do with all 3 of them.

My MW discharged me last week so I'm under the health visitor now so if it continues/gets worse who should I call?

Have you had a busy day? Lots of rushing about or doing things at home? Sounds quite normal. Lochia can continue off and on for weeks including clots. Was the blood fresh red or muddy brown? If worried, if there is any pain or you feel feverish - ask your midwife!

You can still call the mw for up to 28 days after the birth, even if they've 'officially' discharged you. Or give your GP a call.

It sounds pretty normal - just keep an eye on it and get yourself checked out if you get any of those symptoms.
