Childbirth

favourable cervix, 8 days over due

Hi! Had my first sweep&stretch Wednesday, was only 1cm. I've since lost my plug. Second sweep&stretch today, midwife said my cervix was favourable but baby's head is high.
I'll be induced on Friday (was induced at 40+10 with DD)
So, anyone been in a similar situation?

Yes, me!

I had this a few weeks ago before my son was born at 12 days over.

I opted for a 3rd sweep before accepting induction - like you I was 1cm at first sweep, lost plug, 2nd sweep 2cm and lost more plug.

After my 3rd sweep I was 5cm so opted to have my waters broken and luckily that got labour going managing to avoid an induction.

Midwifes advice to me after 3rd sweep was to walk walk walk and sex! Couldn't get round to the latter but walking for 2 hours before I was due to be induced really made a difference.

Friday is a long way away yet so you never know what will happen before then. Relax and walk if you can 😀

Ah thankyou nuggles! My midwife will not give me a 3rd sweep unfortunately as the baby's head is still quite high and she doesn't want the cord to come out first!
Thanks for the advice, I'll definitely go for long walks between now and Friday to try and move him down!
I will

The "I will" at the end is not supposed to be there! 😂

I hope the walks help. I was told te pressure that comes with walking helps release the right hormones to push baby down further.

I hope it works for you, it's horrible being overdue isn't it?.

I was having contractions for 2 hours this morning, they stopped and my waters went at 12! Went to the ward to check, everything okay, being induced tomorrow morning if I don't go myself tonight! I've been having contractions since about 4 now but there's no pattern! Currently bouncing on the ball and eating sweets 😁

He arrived tonight at 19.26 after a speedy delivery!
Was given the tablet to induce labour at 1pm as the contractions had stopped again. Unpainful tightenings started at 2pm, was taken straight to labour ward as baby's heartbeat was dropping with each tightening. Monitored throughout labour.
4pm-4cm
5pm-5cm (gas and air)
His heartbeat was still dropping at 6pm, doctor wanted to scratch his head to get a sample of blood to make sure oxygen levels were OK- she was there for an hour, my contractions were very painful, she failed and I felt like pushing.
So he was out 3 pushes later!
Over the moon!
