Hello,

Just wondering if anyone had any similar experience? I am due to go back to the midwife on Tuesday. I am allergic to local anaesthetic so I am terrified if I need a section that it will be done under general and no one will be there when the baby arrives, as no one is allowed in the theatre. Also, if I have the baby naturally I am nervous I will have bad tearing (I'm assuming at 51cm he will be a big boy) and again I can't have a local or an epidural. Has anyone measured literally off the chart? And if so what options did you have?

I'm 5'11 and all the men in my family are over 6'5 so I was prepared for the fact he would be a big boy, just not this prepared. I'm also completely all bump, still in size 12 clothes so worried this could actually break me.

Sorry, having a major fear wobble tonight.

I think they will do a detailed ultrasound, so that certain things could be ruled out (like too much fluid). If you want to avoid a C-section they will probably try hard to support you with that.

I don't know how to say this... you're not in control but you can still get thru this, whatever happens. Hang in there. X

I'm 5ft 9. I gave birth to an 11 lb baby at home. I didn't tear at all. I used gas and air and a tens machine.

It is more to do with the position of the baby and how mobile you can be during labour.

Try not to worry.

Thank you ladies!

I just got myself a bit worked up, a girl who is in my antenatal class, due on the same day have given birth to a healthy and gorgeous baby girl at 5lbs today. However, she said the birth was excruciating even with an epidural, and a baby that is most likely half the weight of mine, set me in a bit of a panic.

Thanks again.

I measured 46cm at 38 weeks with my 6 year old and was sent for a growth scan for 3 days later...... however I went into labour the day before and gave birth to a 9lb 12.5oz baby, I was a size 6, his head was way bigger than my thigh! I tore but they stitched me and I healed fine. Does your. Any feel big? My midwife told me it's very very rare for your body to grow a baby that's too big for it to deliver
