Hi all,
just wanted to ask about plug/discharge (i know its gross, but im going to go into more detail so only read on if you can bare it!)
im 37+6 with my second and DESPERATE to bring on labour, not that anything is working.
Anyway, wondered if when you loose your plug its always bloody and streaky? with my last one i didnt get a show so i have no comparison, and although lately whats been coming out has been very snot like, this was extreme. it was extremely thick, gloopy, greeny/yellow and the size of a slug Blush.

Also does anyone have any labour stories they can share? i really dont know if i should look for all the signs i had with my last one or if this one will start differently, im certainly having a lot of aches and pains i never experienced last time, but unfortunately they never seem to amount to much Sad
all comments are veeeery gratefully received :) thanks for reading

My water broke and the plug came out at the same time with my first labour - and it looked pretty much like you described it, although I think it did have a few streaks of blood, but was mostly yellowish I think. Contractions started around 6 hours later for me that time.

Good luck with your labour, if this is the start of it!

I didn't have any bloody streaks when I lost my plug last time. Just as you describe really! I had a small blob of snotty, jelly-like stuff on the Saturday morning, a bigger blob of the same jelly Saturday evening. My waters broke after some rather enthusiastic sex on Sunday night. Labour didn't begin on its own, so I was induced 8:30am Tuesday morning and Dd was born at midday! (38 weeks)

I'd been losing bits of my plug - exactly as you describe for about a week. After a sweep it turned into blood streaked plug.

Ended up having my waters broken and DS2 was born 3.5 hours later. Much more of a manageable and less painful labour second round. Definitely trust in the fact your body knows what to do!

Oh wow, so it could be the plug then!
I've had the similar consistency on and off but this was major and made me feel rather sick haha.
I've been trying to ages to bring on labour, even sex despite my size haha but it has been rather tame since I just wanted the semen in the hopes of softening my cervix (sorry tmi again!) but maybe I shall try again this even and be a little more into it!
They had to break my waters last time so don't even know what that's like naturally, but hopefully I get some progress!!

Last time though I felt restless and unwell all day, couldn't touch food at all and bowels emptied a lot, I just stuffed a pizza so better not get my hopes up haha x

First of all you're only 37 weeks so I wouldn't try and bring anything on. Wait until your nearer to 40.

All that plug stuff is normal as the plug regenerates itself and is therefore not a clear sign anything is coming along. Before my second came (and I mean a few hours before) I was wiping away plug with bloody streaks in it --- I had her about 3 hours later!

I was induced first time around so never went into labour spontaneously. Second time round contractions started around 6pm and were every 4 minutes. I didn't lose my plug until I had the urge to push and as soon as I'd lost it, my waters broke naturally. Ds2 arrived just after 2.30am so labour was around 9 hours. It was a much, much better experience than when I had ds1.

I know delivering nearer 40 would probably be better, it's just hard now.
I'm a lot bigger than last time and very thin, so this late stage bring a lot of pain physically and mentally and makes it harder to parent my toddler.
I want the best for my little baba, but I do feel that that would be her arrival.

Yea I've read that a plug can come back, and my mother in law lost hers around 2 weeks before delivery so I know it doesn't mean much, was just interested to know if that could've been what I had experienced or not though Smile

Millie I had a long labour with my first, 7 hours pre labour the night before which stopped and then 13 hours of intense, several a minute contractions, I'm really hoping for a smoother ride this time around!
Was in labour ward with because of being under consultant care and unfortunate my midwife wasn't the best so it was very stressful! I have permission to be in the birthing centre this time though so that's good news! x

I had ds2 in a birthing centre, it was fantastic. Much better than when I had ds1 in a labour ward!
