Childbirth

2nd labour after a 19 year gap!

I am having my 2nd child after what will be over a 19 year gap since my first. People have been telling me that as its been over 10 years that my previous birth won't really count and it will be like giving birth for the first time again.

I had a quickish labour with my daughter I was in hospital for 6 hours but I think them breaking my waters (I had asked for an epidural and the sister wanted my waters broken first) speeded everything up as I gave birth 30 mins after them doing that!

I am hoping for a home birth this time or at a push the MWLU as I have a phobia of hospitals and especially staying in overnight. But worry that this one will take hours and hours as its been so long between labours.

Anyone else been through the same?

As a doula I just supported a HWB after a very short 4 hour labour.
The Mum had a 16 year gap and had a 20 hr 1st labour with ventouse delivery.
Just goes to show the 16 year gap made no difference to the rule 2nd births are quicker!
Good luck and congratulations :)
