Hospital bag: Did your baby fit in newborn clothes?

Hi all, thinking of what to take to hospital. In for ELCS so prob will be there for 2 nights and so I think I'll need 6 changed for baby? My case is getting very full!
Growth scan indicated baby is 6lbs at 36 weeks, would you say newborn or 0-3months vests and baby grows? Thanks

So places like Next do upto 1 month which we found a good size. DS was 8lb when born and most newborn stuff only lasted a week, but 0-3 months drowned him!

0-3 didn't fit my dd for a while. She was nearly 7lbs

DD was born 7lb4oz and we had 0-3 for her in hospital bag and it was too big
DS was born 9lb4oz got all new born in hospital bag and it fit him perfectly although he did go to 0-3 quickly after

Our (unexpectedly) 10lb 6 baby went straight into 3-6 months so all the newborn stuff was wasted Angry - no idea what to do this time but will probably bring a selection and send DH home for more of the appropriate size.

dc1 at 7pounds, yes.
dc2 at over 9, no, needed 0-3months clothes.

No. She was 6lb 7oz's and my husband had to acquire tiny baby clothes as newborn size drowned her.

My 7lber didn't fit newborn - too long, and wanted his legs less scrunched than many newborns.
My 8lber wore them briefly.

Mine was 9 lb 3 and straight into 0-3 but he was very long rather than chubby

I will be taking some newborn with me. I wasn't going to until I got all the baby stuff out of the loft and realised even my 10lb14.5oz boys first outfit was newborn size! X

You'll probably get away with newborn for the first week or the first wash because often they shrink at the first wash. Do you know the sex? Boys are usually bigger than girls at birth.

My DD was 8llb 1oz and was in newborn things for the first month. I'd have some handy and you can always send someone out for more if need be. Good luck!

Newborn size fitted my 9lb and 9lb 3 babies nicely. Careful though because some shops' newborn/ up to 1 month size goes up to 7lb but in others it's 10lb

DS1 went into newborn at 7lb 11oz then for DS2 I packed newborn until a growth scan and measurements indicated a small baby so I took tiny baby stuff which was perfect he was 5lb 13oz

Ds1 (7lb 12 oz) used newborn for about 4 weeks
Dd1 ( 7lb) used newborn for about 6 weeks
Ds2 (7lb 13 oz but long and skinny couldn't fit into them at birth
Dd2 (7lb 1 oz) 2 or 3 weeks I think.

I would take a mixture. I wouldn't have thought you'd get through 6 in 2 days so if you have 3 of each size that should cover it.

No, but DS was 11lb 7oz at birth and DD had ridiculously long legs.

Nope!!! 0-3 with both of mine 8lb 5 and 8lb 8 respectively....I'm not trying for the 9lb-er Confused

Both DCs - one 9lb 2oz and the other 10lb 8oz - comfortably wore newborn clothes for about a month and were drowning in their 0-3 month clothes!

I had mothercare newborn. Ds was 9lb 1 and they were still a bit big.

Mine were all 10lbs (+) and they all were squeezed into wore newborn size for a week or so.
Even bigger babies are still really scrunched up (in that baby position, you know, with the knees up and arms curled in etc) and haven't got massive fat deposits yet so 0-3 looks/is too big.

I bought a mix of tiny baby and newborn. Unexpectedly dd was 8lb 11oz so tiny baby was a waste but newborn was fine for a month.

DD was around 6 at growth scan, born at 7.5. Needed newborn, was swimming in 0-3! I had both in hospital bag tho. You may not need many changes as they're unlikely to have poo blow outs for a few days! :)

6.3 and needed tiny baby at 38+4. Still fit newborn vests for about 8-10 weeks. Mothercare sizing is bigger than Tesco and Sainsbury's - she was in 0-3 vests with extenders - width was about perfect - to about 6 months and is still in 3-6 dresses at just over a year
