LULUMAMA! (or anyone else?!) When do I call out midwife?!

having contractions every 2/3 mins, only lasting 30/40 secs, don't want to presume this is it but what do I do next? They are't horribly painful, but they hurt.

1st, 2nd or 3rd time? keeping this bumped more than anything useful really!

Probably best to give your midwife a call and see what she says.
Good luck.

Call her and tell her what is happening. she will then decide if she thinks it is time for her to come over. When i had ds my contractions never lasted more than 30 seconds and ended up with one running straight into the next, midwife found them very interesting to watch on the monitor. Had i waited til they were lasting 45 seconds before i went into hospital (as advised on the phone- they were busy) i would of ended up with a home birth with dp delivering!!

OO, exciting... have you called the midwife? If you tell her what's going on, she can decide whether or not to come out yet. Sounds promising though

Glad you've phoned to let them know.
Have you got everything you need set up there?

mamama · 27/01/2007 01:10

OH, I'm glad you phoned... how are the contractions?

Do you know if it's a boy or girl?

3rd one, so it may be quicker than others. only about 10 more mins before you call her. is anyone else with you?

Report
Saturn74 · 27/01/2007 01:23

Must go to bed.
Best of luck, itsazoohere.

It's all a bit surreal here! dd1 (11ys) in bed with dd2 (6yrs), Dp-his first child so it's all so new and exciting for him! Lodger (had an unplanned homebirth herself, so some experience) and rather drunk friend who's turned up and is causing much hilarity! will call hosp now (owwwwwww)

Ah, sounds like you've got plenty of support there!
That's good.
All the best for a wonderful birth - I'm looking forward to reading your birth announcement thread in the near future.

So many to enjoy the experience with you, glad you are with so may. Feel free to tell them to feck off out the way so you can do what you have to do.

If they dont budge get them to read this:

She is avin a baby...move it......let the midwife in when she knocks and keep the noise down so she can be heard when she turns up.

good luck.....
