Hi, I'm relatively new to mumsnet, first time I've started a thread..My due date is tomorrow (first baby) and I've just googled what percentage of births are on the due date..answer is 4%...those odds are rubbish! Hmm anyways just thought I'd introduce myself and see if anyone else is around the same point as me and waiting patiently / not so patiently / what your doing to try to get things moving or if your had your babies and well any advice really on what in the world I've got myself into Grin

I'm 40+4 now. Had a show but nothing else. I was the same as you, got a bit attached to baby's due date. I'm trying everything to get things moving lol!

I'm due Thursday. Bored now though but baby doesn't seem to want to move Sad refusing to answer the phone as realised it's only people asking if the baby has arrived yet - close people, who we would blatantly tell!

I was due today, but she was born on the 3rd! My last baby was born at 10:20pm on her due date though so you never know - there's still time!!

Lol Qfor, I've been getting this as well. Im tempted to say, no I had the baby last week and I've been keeping it a secret. 😋

I was due Sunday but he never showed! A midwife appointment yesterday confirmed he is not even a little bit engaged yet.

In all honesty? Due dates are overrated Wink

Hello Commander and Cucumber..glad to hear I'm not the only one!

I have my midwife appointment later today and she said she would do a sweep (never had one before..but she told me she'd be gentle) Blush Also trying everything to get him going but nothing yet...

It is hard as you know people are only excited and meaning to be nice showing that they care but I do find myself wondering surely you know we'd tell you when he is here, like you say close friends and family at least...I think they just must have decided I'm some mean women who is keeping them waiting on purpose Grin which I may well do to pay them back Wink

Good luck to us all and I hope for you like I do for myself that it doesn't hurt too much...come on babies! Smile

I had a sweep on Friday, it was uncomfortable but nothing major. I think that's what caused my plug to go yesterday. I'm booked back in with midwife this Friday for another sweep if baby doesn't make an appearance.
In regards to the calls, the more I think on it, it's more about checking if you have gone into labour and haven't told anyone than 'seeing if baby's here'. Hmm our labour ward has no visitors so I don't know why they'd want to keep tabs on me lol. I do appreciate the calls seeing as I'm alone all day

Good luck!

Did you know that I'm France they have a 41 week due date? The date itself means bugger all really. Babies generally come between 37 and 42 weeks. The due date just allows you to arrange care. Do whatever makes you happy safe in the knowledge that you can't control it so you may as well as eat cake and sit down.

Haha commander my mil has said when I go into labour even if it's at 2 am she wants us to phone - not text - her so she can be at our house for when we come home. Funnily enough I've told dp that he will not be making phone calls and I will not have his mother sat in the house waiting for us! I had a sweep at 38+1 and have another at 2:30 today, will be induced next week if no progress. Last one my notes said I was still pretty much posterior and closed so hoping for some kind of progress from this one at least.
Did have a tiny amount of pinky discharge the other day, got excited but then nothing since so can't have been that much of an achievement!

Mine arrived on due date. Did nothing as I thought it would be ages away then it all started and she was born 14 hours later.

Good luck

Well my prospects are not looking good according to the midwife..my cervix are not looking 'favourable' but I'm booked in for another sweep next week and then induction on the 20th if still a no go..

I also got a bit attached to the due date but I think I now agree with you all its very overrated Hmm and yes more time for Cake I suppose you do have to look for the silver lining!

Cucumber...dear god be in your house when you get home?? I'm glad you put an end to that idea quick sharp! DH folks also want to come over quite quickly (though not before we even get home thank god) but we've just told them that we may need a few days to adjust and we'll let them know..it may be we feel fine for visitors sooner than we think but best they don't get their hopes up Wink Bless their over eagerness!

None at all. Hopefully he will appear before I am induced next Wednesday!

How are you labrador ?

Report
QforCucumber · 09/03/2016 15:32

Nothing here either Sad midwife seemed confident at sweep ysterday and lost a chunk of plug in the middle of the night but that's it. Induction booked for next Thursday but I want my baby NOW! Hmpf!
Any movement with you labrador ?

Labradorlover01 · 09/03/2016 16:04

No me neither... Fingers crossed they come and no inductions needed! I've purchased myself a gym ball today and have been merrily bouncing away! Come on already Grin

Haha I was told star jumps are a good bringer of labour but think I'd probably wee myself if I tried!
Into my 4th week off work now and there's only so much cleaning and relaxing you can do!

Nothing at my end either Confused
I hate pineapple so much now

Report
Labradorlover01 · 11/03/2016 10:12

Daily walking the dog, pineapple, raspberry leaf tea...that other thing which I can't type as I'm too British Blush...check!

All of the above utterly useless..check!

I think I may have jinxed myself though..the Husband said a few weeks ago about going out for a boys meal and drinks tonight (minus the drinks for him, he's the designated driver) I say yea no probs as long as baby hadn't arrived yet..but scoffed and said good luck with that mind as clearly the baby will be here by then...I should never have said this sentence! Hmm

So tonight I will treat myself to a takeaway for 1, thai green curry with coconut rice as this is one myth i've not taken advantage of yet (I know traditionally its indian takeaway but I love Thai) all in the name of science of course! Grin

How about everyone else?..if no movement I suggest you also treat yourselves to some yummy food tonight!

I'm scared of trying to do the spicy food thing in case I have a curry poo mid labour haha Blush
Not even uncomfortable, been for an amble around town this morning. Think I'm resigning to being induced next Thursday. Haha labrador my dp is going to the local football match tomorrow - knowing my luck it'll happen then! Am sure a 90 minute game will be fine though Confused
