Third baby, is anyone up?

I think I may in labour, you'd think I'd know third time around, but no apparently not! Im 38+6.

Had upset stomach this morning, very little energy and just feeling off.

Irregular cramping all day, my mood was either super grumpy or crying over something stupid.

Went to be at 9.30 as was shattered, woke up at 2.30 with regular but mild cramping, I've been timing them, they're about 3-4 mins apart but not too sore, I can still walk or talk if i needed to, I'm having a homebirth so not sure if to phone midwife or not?

Is anyone up with some advice?

I'm up ((hand hold)).

I've only had 2 babies, however my first started as a planned home birth. My first labour started very much like yours. Labour didn't occur to me for hours because I had no experience and I thought I had just mild cramping after a sweep. I called the MW at about 9am the next morning. I walked around, had a bath etc. If you can hang on and deal with the pain for now I would. Camp out in the lounge, with the news on (I like a bit of 'company' so I don't feel alone). See how you are when daylight hits.

Im here xx

Could be Braxtons but I'd give the local unit/midwife a buzz if they get more intense or just closer together.

Baby number three, as my midwife told me mid-labour after we realised DS had spun round at 2 mins apart to be back to back will often 'do their own thing'.

Good luck Brew Flowers

Or yes, give the MW's a quick call to tell them what you've told us. They may not come out to you right away but you'll be on their radar and they'll tell you when to ring back.

Thank you for the replies Smile left DH asleep while I go potter about downstairs, they're regular just not as sore as I think they should be, but I don't want to hold off too long incase I end up not calling in time.

I need to wash my hair, it's mingling, so I'll go do that.

Why can't we have a sign on our foreheads so I'd know for definite instead of all this wondering

Lol, wash you hair - then give the MW's a quick call. Maybe you'll have a dream labour and find that when they come to you you'll be 8 or 9 cm dilated?

Yes, call MW and shower is a good idea.

It's so hard to know. But very exciting!

Good idea on shower. I guess it depends a bit on how fast your previous labours were but agree calling to let them know things have started is a good plan

Hey op. How are you feeling?

Report
Thenightswatch · 23/02/2016 05:50

The pain is a lot worse but they're getting further apart, lost some plug and (tmi) had some very loose bowel movements, I'm really hoping something is happening and this isn't just a warm up Sad

No news yet, any suggestions to get them more regular?

DH has took the morning off to look after our 1 and 2 year old, as I really didn't have the energy this morning.

Still no baby, I'm 2cm had a sweep but nothing, my midwife mentioned third babies are notoriously known for stopping and starting, anyone else experienced this?

Yes! My third do was very stop start. From 30 weeks I had proper labour pains that went on for a few hours then stopped. They were regular pains, but never increased in pain.

So...when labour did start it was very quick. I just had a massive contraction totally out of the blue. One hour later ds was here. He's 1 next week.

Don't forget labour pains are quite bad. Not tea and toast stuff. I had totally forgotten what labour felt like. Don't want to be evil reminder but bare that in mind.

My third was the only one who didn't stop and start!

Five hours from first twinge to holding her

Everything has stopped again, left feeling rather deflated. I really hope it is like the births you's just mentioned and what it does happen it'll be nice and quick, but not too quick!

How are you today?

Report
Thenightswatch · 25/02/2016 13:24

Thank you for asking Smile

Nothing to report, just feeling generally wiped out, even though I had a great nights sleep, no contractions just crampy pains and very loose bowels Blush I really hope it's not much longer!
