I'm being induced on Tuesday (my due date) due to various reasons. Not what I wanted but it's in mine and my child's best interest.

Does anyone have any positive stories from a first pregnancy being induced?

I'm already panicking because my cervix is prosterior so I'm trying to prepare myself for a C sec but I really really don't want one and all I ever seem to read on forums is about inductions ending up in a Caesarean!

Also if you have any tips on bringing the cervix forward it would help, his head Is fully engaged so not too sure why it's still so far back!

Thank you Smile

I was induced with dd1. It took a while but when things got going I managed. Had a shot of pethedine, she didn't really want to come out. I actually had to sign the cesarean release form but she was delivered by forceps in the end.
I really didn't want an epidural as I wanted to avoid a cesarean. The pain was manageable without.
Good luck!

I had a section on my first as I had pre eclampsia and he was born early, on my second I had a trial of labour that lasted for 10 hours, I was induced and it was fine but didn't progress and baby was in distress so I had a section. The worry of it is much worse than the actual labour. You will be fine, best of luck.

My first was induced and only took prostin to get me going, quick easy birth. I was post dates though at 42+2 so he was ready to be born. I'm not sure it would have been so plain sailing if I hadn't declined the routine (wtf!) induction at 40+10.

I was induced after my waters went and I didn't progress. It was lengthy but it was fine - no forceps or ventouse, no episiotomy, no c section. Fairly straight forward vaginal birth. All in all a pretty positive experience. Good luck tomorrow! Your squishy baby will be here soon!

Was induced with DS1 and was very nervous after reading all the horror stories!

It was fine, all a little bit quick and intense- no real build up in contractions, they just started, but 9 hours from prostin pessary to his delivery. I had gas and air and a shot of pethedine.

Had a forceps delivery and episiotomy in the end as he was stuck but he came out happy and healthy -fed straight away and I healed quickly and easily. The fear is much worse than the reality.

Due number 2 in 4 weeks time and if induction is needed I won't be half as worried this time. Good luck, you will do amazing.

You read all the stories about induction leading to sections because the people whose inductions were a breeze are less likely to post and, if they do, less likely to be remembered. You don't mention what the reason is, but certainly in some circumstances, induction actually reduces the chance of a section.

Also, if you do end up with an EMCS, it's not the worst thing in the world. I haven't been induced, but I have had an emergency section and you know what, it was fine. They give you loads of drugs. I was sore afterwards for a bit, and that's it. Pleasantly surprised really. Of course nobody wants an EMCS, I didn't either in an ideal world, but most people find it ok honestly. Best of luck.

I was induced with DC1 and the whole process took 12 hours, went from 2cm-delivery in 40 mins. It was fab!

Good luck :) Flowers

With both girls I was put straight into the drip. DD1 was born in 4 hours and was manageable with g&a (and with an overstimulated womb which meant I was experiencing one big long contraction). DD2 I also went straight to drip and she was 3 hours. Again was fine with g&a. I've said if I have a third I'd opt for the drip just to get them out faster!!

No major tearing or anything with either. Used Juju's Birth Skills book to manage the pain and had two lovely births. Smile
