Evening all,

I don't really know where to begin.....last tue (11/08/15) i had a sweep mw measured me as 2cm dilated and 2cm cervix, she could also feel the babys head but nothing came of the sweep.

However a few days after (thursday) i got a lot of thick brown/pink discharge and put it down to the sweep, this carried on till saturday. I phoned mw and she told me it was nothing to worry about.

This tuesday I woke up to alot of back ache, and period type pain and non-painful hicks this carried through to wednesday and last night I was pretty sure i was in labour after the hicks turned into something more painful and wrapped around my whole belly and lower back. Honestly they didnt feel like hicks, they took my breathe away! I started to time them and they were 7 mins apart lasting between 30-50 seconds this went on for four hours (till about 2am...) and eventually they trailed off and I went to sleep.

I've woke up this morning and was disappointed to find only very mild period pain but I'm experiencing alot of pressure in my nether regions! I feel like theres a bowling bowl about to drop out haha! However i've not had any painful contraction like pain as i had last night, just pressure and period pain. Oh and when I went to the loo about an hour ago I had alot of gloppy snotty discharge 'drop' out of me.

I have no idea whats going on any experiences? Can I expect anymore contractions tonight? Or was it just practice ones? Confused first time mum (im 39w+3days)

thank you for any replies I'm so confused by whats happening (hubby thinks I'm a drama queen! Blush Grin)

The morning of the day before I gave birth I had fairly gentle contractions every 15 minutes. I went out to pick up a curry, just about got home in pain had a shower and everything stopped. The next morning I woke up with much stronger contractions and DS was born that night. So it could be the start!
My midwife (not in the uk) told us to have a hot shower if you think you're in labour and if it's not real labour contractions will stop.
Good luck, keep us updated

Joopy thank you for your kind reply! It makes me hopeful Smile I'm just glad I didn't phone the hospital I would of felt so silly going in and then them stopping Blush I tried a warm bath yesterday and slowly rocking on the birth ball to see if it eased them (it didnt!) so i got myself quite excited that last night was 'the night'.

Oh and I've had so much loose bowel movements the past two days just like i experience before my period!

I've been so excited to meet him, hoping he'll come soon but the past few days i've felt much calmer so hopefully he'll be here soon!

will keep you update!

No worries! I've only had one baby so I'm no expert but I think that when you're in labour you know it, while if you're not sure you probably aren't.

Bowel movements sounds promising! I couldn't keep anything down on the day I gave birth.

And do call the hospital if you're worried, I'm sure they're used to it Wink
