hernia after c-section

Hi, I had a c-section 2 weeks ago. Since then, I've noticed a hard lump above my belly button and my abdomen feels tender, especially first thing in the morning. I saw my GP today who said I've had abdmoninal separation and now have a hernia and the hard lump is my bowel pushing through. She said I just needed to do some sit ups to resolve the problem.

I feel quite upset about this. I wanted to know more about it but my GP was very impatient as she always is and just wanted me out the room.

Has anyone else been diagnosed with a hernia after pregnancy and if so, what was the treatment?
