home birth after traumatic first birth

Not pregnant yet but will be shortly TTC for DC2.

I am getting way ahead of myself and considering childcare during childbirth, an I think it will be easier all round if I can have a home birth. BUT I had a traumatic birth with DC1 including a placental rupture.

So I'm just wondering if anyone had a home birth after complications with their first?

I do have a lot going against me so I'm guessing I won't be allowed but I'm hoping if other mums have been allowed I can use it as an argument for at least asking!

Hi I had a traumatic birth with DD. I ended up with a third degree tear and needed a blood transfusion.
During my second pregnancy I was terrified and after much thought and advice opted for a home birth. It was actually suggested by my mw. The fact that I felt so supported by my midwife and consultant during that pregnancy played a huge part in allaying my fears and as a result felt so much better about the birth of my Ds good luck

I had a traumatic birth with my first and so personally , due to what could have happened, would never opt for a home birth but that's personal opinion.

Talking with my MW about my anxieties she asked if I'd consider a home birth , however then realised that due to me having a PPH, I wiukdnt be allowed anyway. I have to have a drip in for third stage labour so can't have water birth etc or home birth.
Different areas may differ in their policies so worth asking- and would depend how forceful you are about it as im sure to a certain degree you have a right to have what you want. Just think about It carefully- and good luck!!! Hope you have w much nice experience 2nd time round ( which is what I'm also hoping for !) Grin
