Keloid scarring and CS?

Just wondering if there is anyone willing to share their experience of healing after a CS if they have had keloid scarring in the past.

I had a very sore and angry keloid on my chest and think that a CS scar turning keloid would be pretty unbearable.

Argh! Just wrote massively long msg and lost it!!

IN summary, yes, moots of experience! 3 sections - 2 emergency and one elective. The first scar was horrific and had to be cut out when they did second. I had lots of topical infection
Second was better despite an internal infection which exploded and reopened scar
Third was amazing! Fabulous surgeon and we planned for it
Advice

  1. Beading
  2. Don't let the beads be removed a second over 5 days because your scar might grow into it (that hurts!)
  3. Antibiotics immediately after for 3 days as prevention

Talk to your Surgeo and if s/he's not interested make her/him be. My first scar was the talk of essex!

I am pregnant and spoke to the obstetrician about keloid as it have a large scar on my arm. She said key thing was to avoid disposable stitches...

I had a keloid scar after my first crash section. Surgeon must have been a butcher. For my second (elective) cs, I asked the surgeon to see if she could cut out the scar and sew it carefully to heal better. She was a surgeon in training with another more senior one guiding her on the entire procedure. She did a very careful and amazing job and I healed much better, not keloid at all, just a thin white line Smile

I had 2 cs's and I am prone to keloid scarring. My scar is fine, not keloid. I'm glad I waxed before my sections - I think that helped.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I only just came back here as I posted in Chat to get some traffic.

If anyone is still around, can you clarify the beads?!?!?! Never heard of this.
