Childbirth

Kettering or Northampton Maternity Wards - anyone know both or either??

I had DS2 in Kettering hospital nearly 3yrs ago. It was "ok" - but wasn't overly happy with my experience there. This time I'm hoping for a homebirth - but obviously need to decide which hospital I want to go to if things don't go as planned at home.

Has anyone got any positive (recent) experiences of Kettering, or any experience of Northampton at all. I don't want to opt for Northampton and find it's even worse than Kettering IYKWIM

Haven't gotte round yet to asking the girls at m&t, about the Mat Unit in Kettering....!
And yeah Pauls Pirates is fabulous went last Wednesday again...was knackered by the end though, lol...because my 2 uyear old needs help getting upstairs and that meant a constant climbing up with him and then sliding down, lol! Looks like they are extending the place, btw...which will make it even nicer

I had DS at Kettering, 4 and half years ago. Nothing absolutely terrible to report, but they didn't tell me anything about the ward, I didn't even know there was a sink in the corner of it for water for nappy changes until we were on our way out the next day, and I didn't know where the toilets were. They wouldn't give me anything to eat after 12 hours of labour because it had gone 10 o'clock when we got back to the maternity unit, oh, and even though I kept asking them to shut the curtain behind themselves when they left (I wanted some just me and my new baby time), they would always leave it open and I had to hobble over to shut it! But on the plus side, they weren't bothered about DH staying past visiting hours, and the midwives were excellent in all other respects.
