Can I just tell you about my day

Don't feel you need to comment. I just need to get it down while it's fresh.

Woke this morning at 38+3 after a night of feeling I had definite internal hemmoroids that I needed to sort out. Sweep was booked for 2:30 and induction booked for Monday. Went to the loo at 8:30 then went back to bed. Rolled over at 10 and felt that familiar gush. As I tried to move more came out. I phoned DH who was downstairs to come help me. He came in with a towel and I made it to the toilet, soaking the towel and myself on the way. DH started freaking a but but I wasn't contracting so sent him to get my notes so I could ring maternity. Rang triage and they told me to pop a pad on and call back in an hour. Got off the toilet and pains started. Slowly at first but enough to make me stop walking. Dd2 (2) begging me for my phone was not helping!

Pains started increasing and I had another big gush. Rang maternity who said to come in. Of course my mom who is visiting had popped out and grandad lives 20 min away. Luckily neighbor was in and came in. I remember saying to her "I can't move when I contract" and she said "relax when you're contacting". Headed to hospital and I swear every bump killed. Pains were in my bum to the extent that I wasn't able to sit on it properly.

Got to hospital and there was a queue of traffic going towards maternity wing so we had to park quite far. I attempted to walk it and made it 1/4 of the way before a lovely lady went to get us a wheelchair.

The rest gets blurry. DH wheeled me upstairs and Shock the contractions. They weren't really stopping in between so even if I wasn't contracting I was hurting. It was all I could do to get off that wheelchair and on to a bed thing. DH got my trousers off but no idea how!! Mw examined me and said I was 5cm. I said I need an epidural and off she went to call labour ward. God knows how I got dressed and back in that wheelchair but I think DH did it Confused

Mw came back and I begged for gas and air. Thank god she actually listened (she originally said no when I first arrived). After this it gets hazy. She was trying to find a vein, I was feeling everything but delayed so when she said "sharp scratch" I felt it about 10 seconds later. It was wonderful as it was keeping me on top of the pain.

Then labour ward mw turned up. I had seen her in my gas and air hallucinations and told her so. As she wheeled me to labour ward DH saw a school mum who is senior midwife. I apparently said "help me please" to her and she said she'd be right there. As soon as I was in the room they have me back my best friend gas and air. Lord knows how I got from the wheelchair to the bed. Once on the bed they had trouble finding the heartbeat. I was convinced baby was gone and even told them so. They all said it wasn't including DH but I insisted they were all trained to lie. Very very bizarre. Anyway, they said they wanted to put a sensor on baby's head and with the next contraction something completely took over and I pushed. Apparently was crowning at that point!!

Sensor went on and friend came in just as head was coming out (I think). I was so completely high on gas and air I have no idea what was happening other than my body totally took over and I didn't feel much pain. School friend was guiding me on what to do when and I was listening to her, concentrating with her, terrified if I didn't they may take the gas away!! And then that was it! They said "don't push he's coming in his own" and out he came! 8lbs 5oz of him! And rather than a forceps with my last two with episiotomy I had a minor tear which required a few stitches. He was born at 12:55om, 1.5 hours after arriving at hospital and 3 hours from waters trickling.

I still can't believe I gave birth with no epidural and so quickly! And I'm not traumatized!!! So differently to my last two births.

We are home now, about 6 hours after he was born. Still can't quite believe my day, seriously feel like it was a dream!

Thanks all.

I'm no hero, I'm seriously the biggest wimp when it comes to pain. I swear it's like something else completely took over my body for 3 hours!

Whatever you do ladies, ask for gas and air. It's the bomb.

CongratulationsGrin with all my 3 labours I never had contractions with a break it was just one long contraction!!! The midwives were amazed! I had epidural with first as had no idea of the pain, I have never hurt myself before so nothing to gage it by and it bloody hurt!! She took 10 hours but I am sure that was because I had the bloody epidural!
But the next two I just had gas and air and they were only 1 hour 45 and 2 hours 45 each, a walk in the parkGrin
