Epidural - tailbone pain?

A week ago I gave birth and had an epidural 5 mins before ventouse delivery in case a cesarean section was needed. When I was up and about the next day my tailbone/bum area was extremely painful which I put down to having to lie on it for about 20 hours without moving. In the last week sitting and feeding for long times and having to get up and down from sitting has meant I'm still aggravating it and if anything it's worse. I also wondered though if it's not just the pressure on it but something to do with the epidural as I know some people have back pain after one? Just wanted to know if any people had this and what to do / how long it might last? The stitches have healed like a dream so I would be feeling excellent if not for this!

In my case it was because I was rocking back and forth on it during labour, really bruised my coccyx, it took a while to calm down but I don't think it had anything to do with the epidural?

I tried to keep off my back during most the labour, was mainly on my side or attempting to stand (more like slumped over the bed being held up by DH!) but was definitely just lying right on that point the whole time I was paralysed/tethered to catheter and drips. I'm sure it is just that which caused it but it's impossible to stay off it! Not even sure there's any kind of exercise to help, it is probably a kind of bruising.

It could just be your body's reaction to not having a baby inside it any more. Your entire weight distribution has just changed dramatically, so it's normal to get some pain as a result. But get it checked out if you're concerned

It is probably not the epidural because it really doesn't affect the tailbone area, but it probably stopped you from feeling when your tailbone got stretched during delivery. Unfortunately the traditional lithotomy delivery position as well the pulling from ventouse is one of the easiest ways to damage your tailbone at birth, even if thereprobably wasn't any choice. If it is really bad, go back and complain. A physiotherapist is usually a very good person to get to the bottom of what and where has been affected. And it should heal with time but a full diagnosis is always a good idea.

Hoping it heals quickly x

I had a really painful tailbone for months after my last DC but I didn't have an epidural. I think there is something wring with my coccyx generally though as I also had pain during pregnancy.
