Having elective c section at Bolton royal hosp-- how long??

Hi ladies

I am having an elective c section at bolton royal hosp on Friday....I was wondering if anyone else had one there and how long they were in for?

I know each lady varies, but just a rough idea would be good...obviously assuming baby and I are all fine and there are no complications!

I had an elective c section last Friday and came home this afternoon so 3 nights in. I could have stayed longer or come home yesterday if I had wanted to. It's more about how confident you feel about feeding than anything else. I'm feeling much better than I expected to and I'm sure you'll be fine. Good luck x

Sorry not at Bolton but I had an elcs...mine personally turned into a train wreck lol but i had a pre existing complication hence the needs for elcs.
Even with quite a lot of complications I was home in 4 days, properly up and about as in going out for shopping / coffee etc within 3 weeks.

Other ladies on my ward with uncomplicated elcs were going home within 1-3 days.

In case no one has warned you, you get morphine but Only for the first day and you can have it 2 hourly. No midwives told me this.
So if you can get up and about the same day while you can have really good pain relief.
I couldn't get up until the day after by which point trying
to get up and about on paracetamol only is a bit sore. But Once you've done this initial get up, you on youur way to recovery.

If you do too much you do tend to bleed more to so if your lochia tails of then starts up again try to rest a bit more.

No need to be nervous, its actually a really relaxed environment they even play the radio :) and as soon as your baby is out you wont even notice the rest of the section.

Oh just remembered something else if your dh/dp can't stay with you overnight make sure that eveything is a level you can grab it before they leave so you are not having to bend down to pick stuff up during the night and slippers that you can just step into are loads better than the ones you have to pull on.

I was so nervous too as it was my first baby. Can reassure you that it was better than I thought. The actual operation is quick and all I cared about was getting the baby in my arms, which happened after about 10 minutes. From then on I didn't care what they were doing. Was taken straight into a recovery room where I just cuddled and fed baby and ate toast. Took about 3 hours for spinal block to wear off and I asked for painkillers at the start of that process. They kicked in quite quickly so not much pain. Up to the ward for around 5pm and then up and about going to the loo and carrying baby. You will be amazed at what you're doing only a few hours after the operation. Easy to say now, but don't be worried. Think it was worse for my DH as it's horrible to watch it all happen to someone else.
